XM REinstallation- with pics
so ive had XM radio for quite some time now.... and, recently, i havent been using it since i hated seeing the wires (i had them MOSTLY hidden, but i could still see them) and that i basically had the head unit wedged into the storage bin lid... which meant the lid had to be open all the time. anyway- today i was just sitting around and decided to re-install the XM properly.
i started by removing the shifter ****/bezel and storage bin/HVAC controls. i drilled a small hole towards the front of the bin and also a small pilot hole in the XM "bracket" that clips on the back of it (it allows universal mounting with the provided clips on the a/c vents or cradle). i then drilled a small hole on the drivers side of the storage bin, in the rear which is hidden deep within the dash. i then drilled a hole in the plastic console where the power source is so i could route the power around and into the aforementioned tray-hole. i inserted the cassette adaptor into the player, and then ran the power, anetnna and cassette wire behind and then into the storage tray. i screwed the XM bracket to the tray, connected all of the components and thats the end result.
i can now open and close the storage cover without ****ing with the XM... AND all of the wiring is concealed.
not too bad for 20 minutes of work.

It really looks great. However, my question is, the Cassette adapter. When you put the cassette adapter into the cassette doesn't the wire still show from the outside? ms894491@charter.net.

the casette wire is there, you just cant see it.
the adaptor is inserted into the player and theres less than 1" of wire that is visible. the rest of it is run behind the panel.
and yes, the tape can still be ejected
