Blacked out....finally...
So I finally got this mod done, and it is really easy (as long the re-seal works out OK) I almost ran into disaster when my neighbor decided to sand the entire front off his house off while I had the lenses open! Dust everywhere, but I got it all cleaned up (thanks air compressor)I debated on how/what I wanted to do when I had them open, halos yes or no, LED's yes or no, what to paint what to not paint etc..etc...
Also I wanted to do something a bit different than what everyone else had done. So I kept it pretty basic, I left the DRL section cleared and added 9 LED into therm and then wired them to the parking lights (decided I didn't want all time DRL's at leas for now) I also wanted to keep the chrome strip in front of the headlight chrome so as to keep the reflection from the headlights in tact. The sidemarker was the next deal, I wanted to do the clear but I got put on the spot and didn't have a good enough blade to cut the clear "kitchen light" lens to make it work. So I got the magic marker out and started to mess around. I ended up painted the backside blk and left the section where the light shines through with just a bit of black, pics will tell the story. I also blacked my lower grills.
Ok blah blah blah onto the pics!!!
Blk textured paint came out great, looks nice and matted down (and goes with the theme of my car)

Looks really good J. Was it easy to hook up the DRLs? Im gonna break mine open to clean the front lense and to paint red rings around my lights. Im considering hooking up the drls.

Yeah just drill a hole for the wire (2 holes, one for the chrome light housing and one for the outer shell) and ran the wire through. I just tapped into the parking lights though fr now...

Yes I did, I didn't want to completely compromise the reflection of the headlights. Turned out sweet, and kind of breaks up the all blk a bit...

I know, I know daytime pics. Vacation is now over and back to work no time!!!
Right now my car is in the shop for CV boot repair, hopefully the axle survived as I let it go a bit too long...

for the drls, i believe we have to add the additional relays in the fusebox under the hood. i had to replace my heated steering fuse and noticed spots for the drl relay.
i wonder are we prewired for it as well? if so, we could buy the connnectors from nissan

Yeah I tested the DRL spot and there's 3 live connections (even with the key off) 3 without power. Wasn't sure so I just hooked to the parking lights for now. But I would like to check into this later...
