questions about trade

Greetings All,

I'm at the crossroads and I looked at a loaded '06 M35x today and I must say. I'm about a hundred miles away from a trade. However, I have a few questions i would like your opinions about.

Currently, I have an '04 SE with 43000 miles on it. I believe it's the preferred package with the sensory option. Loaded except for traction control or whatever itw as called in '04. The car is in decent shape with a small dent on the drivers door because of some idiot who swung their door open in a mall parking lot. I'm thinking of having it fixed before I take it for inspection at the dealer based on what it will cost me to fix.

I will be taking off the suspension and rear sway bar and it will be for sale shortly.

I'm curious as to what you guys think I will be looking at as far as a trade. I checked KBB and it states 13,075 for an excellent trade and slightly lower for good. Based on experience and what any of you have gotten for your trades, could you give some insight?

Thanks

WOW ... that low huh. I've heard people recently speak of getting 13+ for vehicles with 20,000 miles more than mine. I'll keep that number in my head though and repost after the transaction is complete.

I was offered 13 flat for a trade purchasing an '06 M35x Loaded with 24000 miles. NO missing option, rear backup cam, rear entertainment all that. He's talking 26,715?

What do you guys think?

What Starr pretty much pointed out. You could go to three different nissan dealerships and they will each offer you something different. I have had 3 cars which I have traded in my short driving time. I still remember when I had my first car, a 99 Ford Escort with 75,000, and i went to trade it in, I went to one dealer and they offered me $500. The KBB said 3,000 for good condition. I went to the next dealer and they offered me $3,750 for the same car. Its amazing what a difference in price range you get by just going somewhere else. They don't call them stealerships for nothing. Anyway, I would say to stay as close to kbb as possible as a reference.

Wow ... find that a little hard to believe ... 500 bux for a car?did u goto some small mom and pop dealership? LOL

Critik... Dont expect much ... personally i think you should wait a bit.. with how the economy is, you can get much more for your money in a few months... let it all sink in w/ the dealers, they will work w/ you A LOT more in 2 months... Time will be hard for them and they will be willing to let things go much less!!!!

No I love in Philly and I went to Reedman Toll Autoworld. Probably the largest dealer in the area. They sell every type of car except Nissan, Toyota, and Honda brands. They offered me only 500 because they tried to say something was wrong with the engine. My brother, who is a mechanic, was standing right there when the mechanic tried to tell me what was wrong with it. Then my brother told him that what he was stating was the problem was not true or the car would not be able to run. Needless to say you should have seen the expression on there faces. CLASSIC. No I went to O'Neil Nissan right outside the city and they gave me 3,750. They said there was nothing wrong with the car, just a couple of cosmetic damages on the inside. Outside was flawless.

O'Neil Nissan has to be the best dealership I have ever gone to. My girlfriend broke my spoiler one day because she thinks the spoiler is to open the trunk. I took it up there and they replaced it under warrenty no questions asked.

It also depends on how much the dealer took the car in for trade in the first place. Did they bank an awesome deal on someone, or do they top their prices off more than other dealers? I work at one buick/gmc place that marked every car they got in trade up 3k. At the nissan dealer in the same city that is owned by the same family, they only marked up their cars 1600. So you could see 1400 difference in your trade at two used car dealers that are run by the same place. I would also bet that in a few weeks of months you will see dealers begging for any business they can get.

You see .. I hear both you and fastmax when you say wait however, you can't bet on the market nowadays. Who's to say that in 2 months, everything won't bounce back and those money grubbing individuals who control the market and our interest rates won't be rolling in the dough again and my '04 will be worth even less. I'm looking to push them to 13,500 for my car, take the M35 for 26,715 and be done with it. I know it's a lose lose either way but i'm not willing to gamble on factors I have no control over and I know there will those saying blah don't do it and blah you should've waited but ... either way there will be a situation where I say I should've held off.

Hopefully it'll be around the time it gets hot again and I turn on the seat coolers in my M35x or when my daughter is in the back seat screaming and I turn on that clown fish movie ...... (rhymes with dreamo) ..

Oh yeah I still have the Monroe struts and a Pioneer AVIC N2 still for sale......

Just do what you think is best at the time, everyone who buys a car always finds a better deal after the deal is done, odd how when you wait you end up losing the deal but never really finding a better one

Watch what the interest rate is on the loan, one reason I walked away from Acura was they wanted 8.9%
