I know here in Cali. it will not pass. From what I understand they are supposed to be putting out a CARB number to make it 50 state legal.

You need to do some research and find out what they check for. Go there and ask some questions before you actually want your car inspected. That way you can make corrections w/o having to go through the hassle of failing.

it might not pass the "visual inspection".... the "other guys" that you mentioned go to someone they know to pass just that visual... other than that i think you should be good...

^^^ like he said

YOU really need to find out what your state does, for example Maryland is much more focused on the emissions test. meaning they really care more about the output of the car and that its not straight up killing the environment. That being said other states have visual tests, where they look in and around your car for any aftermarket or broken/ mis-treated OEM parts. Then some do both.

If it were me id ask someone i know that does not go the route your buddies with the civ's and crx's and find out what they really do in your state. Or research but anyway go in prepared and not totally unaware of what will happen. The emission test is a state law so it should not be hard to find on the web. Good luck

You shouldn't have any problem. Assuming you drive an 08 by your s/n you only go for safety inspection which I believe is only $10 unless it went up... they only check things like horn and lights etc. Further more any modern OBDII car they basically check the safety stuff and then look for a check engine light and plug your car into the computer. The days of the smog test and putting our cars on the dyno is a thing of the past, the DMV reads your computer to check for codes and stored values. Most places in the BX don't even check anything but the computer, I just got mine done on Thursday and that's all they did... Pm/IM me if you wanna know where to go.

I asked this same question not to long ago, in NY they only do a safety check, for the 1st 3 years, the 4th year they do emissions, but as I was informed and found out after taking my car in they only plug it in and look for a CEL, so even with an intake you have nothing to worry about.

Im glad NY dropped that stupid dyno machine

o yea.. what i said was for maximas rolling in SoCal.... that's why some intakes have CARB exemption numbers.. when the inspector sees the number, he'll be like "nice intake".. lol
