steering fluid change

I need some info regarding the steering fluid flush/change. I was told that my PS fluid was dark and dirty and needed a change. I was surprised as I just have 46k on my car. However, it did smell burnt. I have been searching the forums for a sticky or instructions. I could not find anything specific for our gen. Is there a write up here that I am missing? A link to that will be appreciated. Any help from someone who has changed their PS fluid is also welcome. Also when do you guys change your PS fluid?
Rick

It's easy, suck out fluid, fill up with flush, start engine and turn wheel lock to lock a few times. Repeat three or four times and put power steering fluid back in.

Just use the turkey baster method, suck out the master reservoir and refill every oil change or every other oil change

You Welcome for the 6th Gen Maxima the Power Steering fluid is just Power Steering fluid, I bought 2, 8 ounce bottles of Valvoline Power Steering Synthetic blend, it was 3 dollars a bottle but it beats the $100 plus the dealer wants

Some Maximas and other Nissan can take ATF for the Power Steering but just use what is recommended

*4: For Canada, NISSAN Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF), DEXRONTM III / MERCONTM or equivalent ATF may also be used.

From the service manual.....
I just used regular ATF

just look in your owners manual under recommended fluids, I was told by 2 dealers not to use ATF, I checked cause several members on this board said they used ATF but in my 06 manual it says Genuine Nissan PSF or equivalent
