2004 Maxima Engine Trouble

Hey, my friend has a 6th gen but doesn't have an account and wanted me to start a thread.

It's a 2004 SE w/ a Fujita CAI as the only engine mod IIRC. Car has 87k on the clock. It has a rough idle and hesitation under light throttle when the engine is cold. And has a problem (hesitates) getting above 4k rpm's whether hot or cold (light and heavy acceleration)

MAF has been cleaned, checked coils (idle changes when cutting power to each one)

Other than common tune up items (plugs, fuel filter, etc.) Has anyone had a problem like this? Does anyone know if the early model 04's had the CPS problems like the 02-03 got recalled for? I've suggested a few things, but I'm sure he'd rather check on here before he starts throwing money at it.

Thanks!
