Gunmetal color?

I took these wheels to a shop for Powder Coating. I told him to do a Gunmetal Color flat. Didn't know how it was going to look but opinions please..... I can do another finish later. The color looks lighter or darker in different light.

So I should take them back and get a high gloss coating like the GT-R wheels? Don't know if they would even have that look.

Thanks, the powder coating feels like the stock finish. Still not sure about the color/finish.

Painters have different interpretations of the color. Yours looks like a light grey on the third pic. Gunmetal color should be darker. Did you show him a pic on how you wanted the color? Here are some examples.

That bmw is sweet but the wheels are in the darkest shade.

I showed him and asked if he wanted to hang on to the pic and he said no. I think I saw KcMaxx 17" wheels powder coated in a darker gunmetal. But like you say everyone has a lighter or darker version.

These wheels look black as night on the car but in the light you can see some grey.

Cool, I paid the shop for Gunmetal and got grey. So it looks nice anyway??? The shop might do it over free of charge or they might say NO.

I swear these are the same color grey/gunmetal Flat. Hope Kcmaxx don't mind.....

LOL, I dont mind bro...

I believe the powder I went with was Tiger brands P5. I might be off on the brand but I know the color was the P5. It looks alot different than those driveway pics (unmounted)

Here's a few others.

The wheels on the blue Z are flat black. I talked to him on another board when he had them for sale. They were also spray painted.

Any ?'s feel free to PM.

Almost $400 for the powder coat. Took one week. They feel very durable like stock or better.

Got it over with and they are mounted. The one of the G35 wheels had a bad dent and I don't know what to do about that but I wanted to powder coat those too.

They look sweet man...

If it were mine, I'd lose the handles and badges.

Hell, I'd have the grille sprayed too!

What color are your calipers?

Thanks! I am thinkin the handles and badges too. The calipers are stock but maybe blue or Silver might work. The guy said he could powder coat the grille too.

How about black handles? black badges?

I got the idea from KcMaxx and JoesRedMax... Didn't think stock rims could look sweet.

Aren't your wheels low gloss?

A high gloss grille will really stand out.

Black or not, it may look out of place.

.02¢

Wheels do look great though Leo...

Like mine, the unpainted centers make the dark wheels pop. Throw on some black lugs, you'll love it.

Update... Got the grille powder coated same color as wheels. The lower grille is powder coated black. The emblem has been painted black. I'm using the trunk emblem because it fits the circle perfect and not huge like the oem grille emblem. By popular demand the handles are gone. Not installed yet because I got more stuff to install. Oh and the wheels look even better Dirty. Plenty of looks and turning heads with the wheels alone. My theme is "Anti-Chrome" no bling on my max !
