QUES FOR: HID USERS 8000K AND ABOVE
Good morning, I have a 04 maxima with an 07-08 front and headlights... I purchased an 10000k hid kit (35 watts).. I have not installed them as of yet and want to know something before I do....
For you guys or girls that drive with them everyday, how is your vision( from the drivers seat) on dark roads..I've already read threads and charts on lumen, but it's nothing like getting advice from users of the same product... My halogen lights are pretty bright and I've read reports that say HIDs are 3 times brighter, is that 3xs brighter for on coming traffic or for the driver of the car????
Also if theres any regrets about having your HIDs and make sure you respond with the type of kit(8000k or above)

Well the higher you go in Kelvin rating the less bright the bulbs are. 6k is pretty much the brightest from what I understand. I went with 8K and they do look cool but definitely not as bright as my stock HID's. I do have 2 sets of yellow fogs (OEM and in the RLM bumper) so when I want to "lighten" things up I turn them on. So if you got 10K they will be even less bright than mine. No regrets though I will say if I didn't have fogs as a backup I could see myself being bummed out at times...
im runnin 8k headlights and fogs and i personally wouldn't recommend anything higher than that. once you go past 8k your losing road light. i believe 6k offers the most. but ill tell you, on those long road trips in the middle of nowhere at 2 am everything in front of me looks like day time :-)
yeah i just swapped to 8k on my headlight bulbs.. ive had them in the fogs for a while..
and i was dissappointed to see that things werent as bright as they used to be. whenever/if ever these go out, ill be going to the 6000k or just putting the OEM back in.
however, on the positive side. it does look bad ***. lol

On my '03, I have 12000K headlights and 8000K fogs. With just the headlights alone, I can't see ****. With the fogs though, the road is perfectly lit. If I had the choice, I would have gone with 6000K, but they came with the car. Whatever.
3000K(yellow) and 4300K (stock) are the brightest. I bought 6000K D2S and I havent gotten the chance to test em on backroads. They look like less bright than stock HID, but cooler blue... oh well. If it really annoys me, I'll just go back to stock 4300K.
I personally would not go above 6000K. 6000K is already white/blue enough, and you dont loose too much light.
Thats blue enough for me. (Maybe even too blue). I didnt like the 4300K light compared to my old 6000K fogs, but maybe next to 3000K fogs they would have looked fine.

True, I meant brightest once you get to the true white scale (not stock yellowish) And for those of you that are surprised by the results of your 8K or higher I would recommend some research next time.
I knew exactly what I was getting myself into but wanted the blue look...
Here's a good comparison to Kryogen's pic above, my 8K's

i have 20,000k H.I.D.'s there super deep blue (see my pics). it seems to me there about as bright as stock but dont project as far. the fogs are WAY brighter than stock. runnin both at night the road is completely lit up....blue lol. an yes they are illegal. i been pulled over twice so far but not ticketed, just warnings. but over all they they are way better than stock IMO.
I though my 6k were already too blue, but after seeing 8k, they arent THAT blue
Just ok for me. I like the 3k yellow fogs.
What did they tell you when they pulled you over?
How blue are the lights in the ricer civics? 8-10K?? They look WAY more blue than my 6000K.

I have a 10,000K hid kit for both my headlights and fog lights.. I think they are fine for dark lit roads.. If I had the choice to do it over, I would go for the 8,000K because they are slighter brighter especially for my wife.. Nissan_Shift.. Team Boston Red Linerz..
i have both my fogs and headlights on my 08 with the 10k's looks nice and light output is good. i'll post pics sometime this weekend when i have a chance. i bought both kits off www.xenonlink.com for only 239 with shipping.
3000k brightest,4300 still decent,6000k less than 4300 but still usable, 8000k less than halogen but blue,10000k blue or purple less than halogen , 14000k pointless but if you like it i love it.
