Brake Upgrade

hey guys, i bought the complete rotorpros brake kit with hawk hps pads and ss brake lines a while ago. spring break is now so i figured i finally get these installed [and for my other thread, get an exhaust sound clip].

my question is what is the order to bleed the brake lines?

make sure you pump the brake several times before you open the bleeder valves, and disconnect the abs module too.

i put on my rotor pros with the hawk pads... is it recommended to bleed your system or is that just because hes got the stainless steal lines?

hey guys, finished the rotors, pads, & ss brake lines install!! as an extra, i also installed 15mm wheel spacers too!!

now to my problem, i bled my brakes pass rear, driver rear, pass front, & driver front. it seems that the car still isnt stopping like it should [i know its subjective but i mean at least better than stock]. i bled each wheel at least 20 times.

and my other problem is that with the spacers, the rear rubs when you go over speed bumps. i am assuming my options are roll the fender or cut out that inner lip. what do you guys suggest?

thanks again!!!

p.s. pix up soon.

blackness monsta, sorry for the delay, stil trying when i get a chance; finding someone to borrow their vid cam is a PITA.

thealliance43, yes, its b/c the ss brake lines. if you just did the pads and rotors, you dont have to but you may as well imo, not too much extra time. its good cause it purges out some of the fluid and maybe some air pockets as well.

Imo the max brakes feel mushy all the time, I dont know why... my mom's 2002 sentra braked way beter.

If therte's no more air in the lines, it wont get better by bleeding...

9. Bleed the brake hydraulic system air bleeder valves in the following order:
Right rear brake ->Left front brake ->Left rear brake ->Right front brake

Hello! I want to buy f/r vented rotors for my 05 max and see a set 2007-2008 from rotorpros will these fit ? Can someone tell me the right part number and what they paid with hawk or axxis pads? Is there a ceramic brake pad option as they tend to have less brake dust? I have to get these ASAP as my brakes and rotors are just starting to lightly grind.

mightymax5, id email rotorpros, just tell your year, make model and what you want and he'll make u a deal. i went with the hawk hps pads. also, i got the ss brake lines.

How do the brakes actually feel, pedal feel, now take it on the highway at night, or whenever there is no traffic and take it up to 60-80 and stand on the brake, bring it down to 30 and repeat like 5 times

Bed the brakes in, your rotors should have a bluish glaze or sparkle, which is the brake pad grabbing the rotors

edit: forgot to mention, when you do brakes and you take it for a spin the car feels like it's not stopping, it's a lovely feeling but it will pass and the brakes improve with every mile, give it some mileage but bed the brakes in properly

mightymax5: yes, they are xdrilled & slotted. the fronts are vented and the rears are solid.

starr: i feel a difference but i there might still be some air or not enough fluid. when i press the pedal, its like a pssshh sound. for breaking in the brakes, ive always heard you should drive normally and not too hard for ~250 miles or so to let them break in, i.e. hot/cold cycling so they dont glaze.

i also noticed that as well as i was driving more it felt better [i felt that was subjective so i threw that idea out] that it was maybe stopping quicker. no more vibration when braking!!!

on another note, pos oem rotors were apparantly warped.

I gave you whats written in the nissan factory manual for the 04 max. Probably wont make a difference anyway, but just so you know.

update: let the breaks brake in for a bit. the stopping power seems worse than stock. on a side note, ive read before that the ss lines can be the culprit. only thing i dont know is how to test to see where the problem may be coming from. any ideas? TIA

When I added just the SS lines the pedal feel improved. It firmed it up quite a bit.

I am thinking about getting a set from rotorpros as soon as I can fit them in the budget. I am curious if the gold or black zinc plating wears of quickly. Is there enough plating thickness for the color to stick around for awhile?

Wouldnt do this as dot 5 way out of our cars necessity due to its high temp tolerance and also very hard to bleed these. not recommended for ABS. No reason to go above dot 4 in any car on the street, however I have the valvoline dot3-4 synthetic and mine work fine. I also have the 300zx TT and have to clean them regularly due to my slotted rotor eating my pads up.
