About to buy KYB Struts....

Hey guys, just looking for some recommendations I have Tein drop spings and Racingline endlinks waiting to be put in but then I figured I might as well put in KYB shocks and struts (Since thats really the only choice we have) So I found someone selling a new set of Struts and shocks for under 200 bucks. Now my question is do I have to buy the boots and mounts also? Can I use the same boots I currently have or do they come with boots in the box or would I have to purchase boots or anything extra for the matter that I should put in since Im touching the suspension anyways?

I don't think they come with the boots but i might be wrong .. anyways you don't need to change the boots and mounts unless they look bad from your judgment or the mech. but since its out and its been like prob over 60k on them you mind as well do so you don't have to double the work later on. jst my 2 cents

if you have an 04 and never changed out your struts, get the mounts. The rear shock GR2's come with mounts in the box.

As for boots, look at them now. touch them and feel for cracks or holes. if they look and feel good dont bother buying new ones.

If the bearing is cracked (little plastic disk on the monut) then yes change your mounts. The actual mount is hard to break...its the damn bearing that sucks. KYB sells a set...I believe its the SM5409 off the top of my head. Dont overtorque those strut bolts!

Its gonna be a bit before this gets done anyways. Im trying to get my hands on a RSB also since Im at it. Im trying to get a hold of the nismo one but wherever I go they only seem to sell them as a set and I only want the rears. So I think progress is going to be the one if I cant get it.

Thanks for the part number. 40 Bucks per mount is quite expensive. Are there any places this is cheaper?

Monroe Sensatrac have me loving my Max's ride. But I also changed back to OEM springs. They should work really well with the TEIN springs.

Ok, just to update this thread, I picked up the KYB Struts.

So now ive got....

Tein Springs
Racingline F&R Endlinks
KYB Struts and Shocks
Progress RSB
Racingline FTSB

All this is going in, which leaves me with this question. I searched a bit here and there on the forum and some are saying to not go with the KYB strut mounts. Anyone with the KYBs mounts can chime in? Im not good with installation so Im going to have most of this stuff put in, except for FTSB which I will atempt to do myself. So I really dont want trouble with the mounts becuase I dont want to have to switch back and forth.

Go to Monroes website and they have a dealer finder for your area. I paid about $130 per strut. I love the ride- back on OEM struts too. Hate the gap- - but I'm going for function over form.

I am still on stock struts at 90k miles and I drove mostly highway miles. I don't even know what to look for if my Stuarts are bad or not as I have no problems driving on rough roads or through bumps & pot-holes. Few times even I tried to push with both hands or body weight from top at both front wheels and they seems to be OK.

Why did you go back to the OEM springs. Also what is the height the front tire should be from the wheel well.

The height of the tire to the wheel would depend also on your rim size and or tire size.

I'm rolloing with the stock rims and 245/45/18 tires sumitomo , the gap just looks bad when sitting in the parking lot.

I went back to the OEM springs because the Progress springs were just too harsh over the broken pavement that I drive on here in Cleveland, Ohio. On the highway or smooth roads, they were fine and they helped the Max corner like a race car but when I encountered bad roads its was too jarring in its handling of the broken pavement.
