Electrical Help-Smelled and saw smoke

I just went outside and when I started my car I noticed that the steering wheel didn't adjust. Then the Navi wouldnt' come on saw and smelled smoke.

I'll check the fuses when I get off work, but has anyone else had this problem.

Doesn't work
Radio
HVAC controls
Power mirrors
Drivers power seat
Memory Seats
Can't move steering wheel
radio controls on steering wheel and dash
Navi

Works
I can retract mirrors
A/C is stuck on "AUTO"
Cruise Control
Headlights
Passenger seat is fine
Heated steering wheel light comes on (too warm for heat)

Any help is appreciated.

Yeah. When I get home.

Smoke came from under the steerinwheel, maybe by the fuse box.

I've never known a fuse to smoke though.

The fuses won't smoke. You either have a short circuit or an electrical component that is completely fubard. Any aftermarket mods or wiring? Remote starter?

Yeah, remote starter.

One of the fuses popped too, I drove my 1991 SE-R today. I'll have the install shop who put the starter in check it out on Saturday.

Yup! Its the remote start that caused the problem. Your wires we're runnin hot... not fused right and they smoked. All the connections for the remote start are under your dash below the steering wheel. Make sure whoever put the remote start in takes care of it. Get a quote from a dealer to get it fixed!!

You guys were right. I took it back the intall shop and some wire crossed. Fixed in 5 minutes. Funny because never had a problem with this Compustar before. Oh well. Nice to have my Navi and iPod back though.

Thanks to all that responded for the help.

Only good thing that came from this is that it forced my to ride around in my 1991 SE-R, which I don't drive enough cause I love the Max so much.
