I am thinking about getting these rims.

My question is; Does it make a difference that these rims are "staggered?"

225/45/R18

and

245/45R18

Which do I put in the fronts? I believe the 350z is rear wheel drive and the wider tire is in the rear. Our Max's are front wheel drive, would I put the wider tire in the front or does it matter? I think it would look funny if I put the wider tire in the front. Anyone have these rims? What did you do?

 

Staggered is just a look for a fwd car. It serves no purpose and as you alluded to, it may even be detrimental since our drive wheels are up front. i would never get staggered rims personally but my goal for my car is performance. If I had my way, I would have any seats in my car but the driver seat.

 

Dues is right... Staggered is just for looks on our cars. If I were you, try to get 4 rear rims. 18x8.5....

But if you cant find a set and are forced to buy a staggered set, keep the 8.5 rims in the back. it wont benefit you any having the wider tires in front.

 

Yeah, I just like the way they look. I live in upsate ny. This is my year round car, I might do a little performance stuff, but not racing it. I really want to know if it is save, and if I get them would I put the wider ones in front or back? Anyone know if they made these none staggered? Or just have to buy 2 fronts/rear somewhere and then another 2 fronts/rears to make a set of matching widths.

 

Well lets put it this way...

the front 350z rims (18x8) weigh 22-23lbs

the rear 350z rims (18x8.5) weigh 24-25lbs.

I actually found a set of 4 rear rims on craigslist. So i have a set of 18x8.5 rims all around..

You will have to buy them separately from the dealer or search the internet for a matching set for sale. good luck on that!

 

Did you rims come with tires? How much did you pay?

 

yeah they came with tires but they were mis-matched brands and too thin on the front tires. But i ended up paying 700 for the set + tires then 3 weeks later i bought a fresh set of 245/45/18 tires.

 

Just run 245/45/18 on all four and you will be fine to rotate as you please. It wont hurt anything. The half inch difference is negligible

 

those rims are always nice on the Max. Go for it.

 

they look nice! i have the 350z 17's and i put the bigger ones in the back.

 

+1, the 245/45/18 are stocks on our maximas, Just get them you wont be dissapointed

 

I would run the 8.5's in the rear and the 8's in the front. I like the look of staggered with wide rear tires and "skinny"er wheels in the front.

I already have the 18" flat 7 spokes. I bought the rims with new tires on them for $500 and sold them to a buddy of mine. I liked my rims better than the 350z's, I like the look better and I don't think our 6th gen's look as "sporty" as the 5th or 5.5 gen's. I was tempted to sell them on ebay or on here, but he has a 5th gen that needed rims bad so I gave him a good price. They look awesome on his gray lustre max.

Hi guys, first post here. I hope the community is still active. Anyways I have a set of the factory chrome Maxima wheels for our 6th gen. Purchased these from dealer with the car. Of course a couple years into their life the wheels corroded badly and leak at the bead. I have since sourced out a set of the 350z V2 touring wheels (very similar 5 spoke if not exact shape to the factory chrome ones). I like the shape so I decided to go with them.

My question is, will the staggered z wheels fit the 6th gen without any mods?
The z wheel specs are (please correct me if I am wrong):
front - 18 x 8.0 +30mm offset
rear - 18 x 8.5 +33mm offset
tires - planning to run standard 245/45r18 all around

I want to know if there will be any rubbing (on both front and rear), or any other issues with these wheels on a 6th gen that has not been lowered or dropped and is completely stock. Also, are the standard/stock lug nuts good for these staggered 350z rims or do I need to purchase something else? Any rubbing with passengers in the rear? Please respond, any help would be greatly appreciated ASAP!!

I believe our specs on the stock maxima wheel is 18 x 7.5 +40mm offset.

 

Pac they will fit fine with no rubbing problems. I used the 350Z staggered rims on my Max and even rotated them with no issues.

 

Thanks bud, I also asked on another forum where I got a similar response. Looks promising then I suppose. I will wait another few weeks before switching the rims over as we may get another snowfall here up in Canada so I will still need my blizzaks! Will put up an update once I install. I was also told elsewhere that I should change to the Z lug nuts as they are different, opposed to the Maxima lugs. Read somewhere that the 370Z/G37 rims have fallen off some 6th gen Maximas as the Z lugs were not used. Scary s**t! When getting Z lugs, would I also need a special Z locking wheel nut as well, or is the current locking wheel nut on my Maxima (from the dealer) good enough? Sorry if these are really noob questions but I do not know much about tires/rims/lugs.

 

Well just an update. I ended up running the 8.0" 350z rims on front and 8.5" 350z rims on the rear. All 4 tires are 245/45/R18. The front seems fine but the rear rubs slightly when there are sudden dips on the road and going at fairly high speeds. No damage to the fender itself or the tire but I think over time it will. Especially if I have a lot of stuff in the trunk, or passengers in the rear. Its ok on speedbumps, doesn't rub then, seems to only rub at higher speeds and sudden dips in the road. Looks like I will get the fenders rolled as it will only cost me about $150 to get them done. Have had them on for about a month now. Just thought I would post an update for anybody who may run into similar issues.

 

You could try swapping the 8.5's to the front instead of the rear. It may even look more even in stance, front-to-back...
