I picked up some used g35 rims. The g they came off of had tpms. My 07 SE also has this. Will the sensors in the g rims match up with the max tpms?? They are the same size rims that I am currently running and I am going to put the same size tires on them.

I am also curious about this, as i've done the same as you. They should work just fine depending on the year G they came off of. Now, i was quoted $69.99 from the dealer to program my new sensors to my 07 max. She said that they would have to flash the ECU to get it to recognize the sensors. I dont want to thread jack, but couldnt I just disconnect the battery for a while to reset everything and hopefully it will recognize the new sensors??

 

The '07 Maxima had 2 different sensor part numbers depending on your build date.

40700 CK001 with a build date of March & older
40700 JA01B with a build date of April and newer (also the same as '08)


2006 and earlier models G35's used 40700 CD001, and of course the 07+ use 40700-JA01B

Not sure if 40700 CD001 is the same frequency as 40700 CK001, but I suspect they probably won't work.

Don't pay the $70 for the dealership to do it. I had two sets of wheels and since I bought my tires at Goodyear they would always reprogram them for free. It took him all of about 3 minutes in the parking lot - never even pulled the car into the bay.

There were two tools they needed, one plugged in under the dash on the drivers side (I assume this was flashing the memory), the second he would walk around to each wheel and hold it to each tire where the valve is and activate each sensor. If it linked the parking lights would flash for each wheel.

If anyone charges for this it shouldn't be more than $20.

 

My god, now its back to the drawing boards for me. I went to a dealer here and at first he said $190 to reprogram , but after debating with him he said $60. Now I will give my local goodyear a call to see if they can do it cheaper. I thought only nissan had the tools to do this. This is why I love these boards.
I have the JA01B sensor, and I do think my car was built in april. Carfax says it was fleet leased on april 10 2007. Just in case it doesnt have that particular sensor, do both the JA01B and CK001 share the same frequency? Will either work?

I dunno how to find out the build date. I'm only assuming mine was made in april according to when carfax says it was titled. It very well could have been made the month before. What year is the G they came from? The parts department can reference part numbers for you and tell you what will and wont work.

***Your build date is located on the sticker in the driver door jam. It will have the month/year printed.

 

The g they came off off was an 04 so 40700 CD001 sensor. I'll have to check my door when I leave work to see when my max was made.

So pretty much I will have to get new senors for the new g wheels. But that leads into more questions.

What if I do not put tpms sensors into the g wheels? Will my system freak out and tell me I dont have any air in my tires since there is no sensor or will nothing happen and I can justs check them manually?

-Discount tire guy said that the light will go on saying that your pressure is low. But he said that Nissan might be able to turn that light off??

Also he said that once you get new sensors that match your month and year that once they are flashed they are always flashed so you do not have to flash them everytime you change your tires.

So I asked for a quote for sensors for 1 sensor is 63 bucks plus 15 bucks to install and flash.

Where can I get some sensors for less than 63 bucks a piece?

He said if I buy the sensors for them and them to flash with balance and mounting would be $128 for all 4 wheels.

 

I don't think it would hurt to at least try to link the CD001 sensor to the '07 Max - chance are it won't work, but with a model number so close it might just be a design difference in the head or the angle to allow mounting in the G wheel or to allow space for a lower profile tire. Again, I'm not sure but it's worth a shot - you wont have to mount, just have the installer place it next to the car and you'll know immediately when they reprogram by the flashing parking lights. Of course if it fails, you'll have to reprogram your originals

And the '07 Maxima sensors do have to be relinked every time you switch wheels/sensors. The memory only holds one set. There are cars (i.e. Acura) that don't have to be reprogrammed every time you switch your wheels over, but the '07 Maxima isn't one.

You can always remove your original sensors and put them in the G wheels - no reprogramming needed.

I personally wouldn't run them without the sensors, the warning light would drive me crazy. And I doubt that Nissan is really going to turn a safety warning light off for you. I was also told (or read, I can't remember) that the Maxima's VDC control uses tire pressure information to assist in the VDC somehow - not sure if it true or not, but I've been told stranger things by salespeople.

I talked with a guy at nissan today and he said that nothing should be affected if you try and run without sensors. It would just be like normal driving but you would just have to check the pressure every so often. They can not turn the light off either.

 

you can purchase sensors off ebay. Thats where i got mine. No reserve auction, $30 for all 4. Also, call multiple dealers in your area to get the best price for re-programming. $128 to mount and balance is way too much. Is that with a road force balance? I'm taking my wheels tomorrow to a shop that charges $20 per wheel mount and balance and thats with the road force. So far, the cheapest dealer quote has been $45. If they give you some ridiculous price, haggle them down. Thats what I did. The object is to get your business, not send you away.

 

Hey I just got my rims and tires installed yesterday. I decided not to put the sensors in. Good thing is that there are no lights on the dash saying anything about the sensors. I checked the nav to see if it was getting and readings and it just said ** ** ** ** so it knew that it didnt have sensors and there were no warning lights.

Check them out. I think they came out really nice. I took it to the tint place right after, but they did a horrible job so I am getting it re done.

Just give it a day or so for that light to pop on if its working properly. Took about a day for mine to come on. Looks good man.

Been driving since last Saturday (about 60miles) no light. The system worked just fine before I swapped the wheels so I know that is fine. O well

 

my system worked fine also before the swap. just post back here when the light turns on. If it never turns on, then you know you have a malfunctioning system.
