CLUTCH/TRANNY QUESTION

I have an '04 SE 6MT. Sometimes it difficult getting it into 6th gear. It's like I missed a shift, only I know I didn't........really I didn't. The clutch doesn't appear to be slipping and I had the master and slave clutch relays replaced a few months ago. What could cause this problem?

Possible bad synchro although that's unusual in 6th gear. usually synchros go bad in lower more frequently used gears.

Deus is right on all of his points.

Only other question I can think of -- when did you last change your tranny fluid? You need to get rid of the OEM fluid and put in synthetic. I went 30 K miles on the OEM and should have changed it at 20 K or less. I am going 60 K miles on the synthetic before I change again. The new fluid makes all shifts much smoother and easier.

Good luck.

Thanks guys. I had the fluid changed last month but it's not synthetic. I'll go with synthetic next time. If that doesn't cure it, I'll look into synchros.

I put AMSOIL in my tranny at 15K, and it made a world of difference in shifting smoothness. For the $50 it'll cost you at the shop, I'd almost take your car back and put in either Redline, or Amsoil synthetic. It may just fix your shifting problems.
