It was my first time owning a V6. I sure did feel like I was in a high-powered performance car. And talk about get up and go!!!!

When I first test drove my car at the dealership, the sales person was explaining a lot me as we pulled out of the dealership, but when we got on the freeway and I hit 110m/h, he was shut-up!!!!

But hey, before that, he knew I was gonna be a buyer. And yeah, I bought it from him! Though he said I scared the sh.. out of him.

I just love this car. Great performance car for price and options that come with it.

Even in high school before i got my license i always wanted a 4th gen. Then exactly two years ago i was in the market for a new car and it was between a maxima, TL, g35 sedan, or a mazda 6. I narrowed it down to the maxima because the price was more in my ballpark for what ill pay for and i really didnt need the luxury of a TL. Went to a local dealership and saw the 6.5 and was amused by the improvements the put on such as the spoiler, rear valence, control panel, CVT, wheels, front end and the list goes on. I have always underestimated the maxima but when i first drove it on the freeway i was sold and got the car for $10k below msrp with four year free oil change. That is also why i love my car because people dont expect the power it puts out and the roar from the intake and exhaust. I always get compliments about how my car dont sound like a fart can or a rice rocket. To summarize everything the maximas set itself from all the other competing cars

i just remember on my test drive. i was on the highway and i thought to myself,
hmm why is everybody driving so slow?....i'm just cruising. then comes a curve up ahead
so i tilt my arm to the right. giving me view of the speedometer. turns out i was going 85 the whole time..
i love my max. just not the gas milage.

2 yrs ago my wife and I drove from MD to Foxwoods up in CT to see boxing.... we rented a Maxima. Our first impressions were that it was a big but nice looking car(turn radius was crap), our extended impressions on the drive up and back were that it was comfortable, and we absolutely fell in love with the CVT on the highway (passing, acceleration).

At that point I knew my next car would have to be a Maxima... and earlier this year I made it happen.

It was the first car i test drove when I was ready to buy a car. Of course I wanted a 6 speed and I test drove an automatic. But I was amazed at the power, comfort and feel of a car costing $30k. I remember testing the ABS by racing up to a stop sign, and jamming the pedal to the floor. The look of the female saleperson was priceless. Anyway, I tested other cars, but nothing compared although I did enjoy the Accord Coupe 6 speed, but it was too small for me and my three (then) teenage kids.

My first thoughts were: Wow, this has a lot of gears to go through (6 speed max) and wow cars are much nicer now than thirty years ago. I was coming from a 3 speed auto V8 at the time (prev. car was a 77 Datsun 280Z).

I went if for an 09 this was before the the economy crash(aobut 6-8mths before), and the dealer was charging a premium because it was a high demand car (i cant remember what the actual name was) but basically it was on high demand so they charged a premium. Of course they put me in the top of the line model and i was sold then they told me about the premium, HAHA. I said NAHHH, test drove the 08 said "this will work" especially how smooth the ride was. I was very impressed and pulled the trigger (however i still feel stupid and not waiting, hindsight is a Beotch) LOL

It's been more than 6 yrs.

I believe it was "Oh shiiiit" as I almost drove under a semi because of the ridiculous torque steer.

Was looking for an Altima when there was a Maxima on the lot... Decided to take a look at it... took it for a drive and the first thing that came out of my mouth:

"HOLY **** this thing has some *****"
then
"What the eff is this button"
- so I pushed it
"holy **** the steering wheel is hot"
then
"what the eff does this one do... power folding mirrors? really?"

Needless to say I was sold on a Maxima... Just NOT that one as it had a ridiculous amount of rust.

OMG this reminds me... I've already told about my first experience, but I didn't talk about my test drive...

So earlier this year I found the red one and went to test drive it... got in started it up, and the driver's side mirror tilted down... I was like... holy **** the mirrors tilt when this thing goes in to reverse? What? All the mirrors auto dim? Heated seats AND steering wheel! Man the only this thing doesn't have is a Navi and I've already got a Garmin so I'm set!

I came from my first car which was a 90 Camry DX I4. I was searching between the 07 Camry, the 06 Accord, an 05 tC, and a 05+ Maxima.

I went to a dealership and they had a few on the lot and I fell in love with the 18"s and the ***** it had compared to my old p.o.s. So i bought it right there, screw the competition, for the price, my nissan came with more options, a better motor, and an all around better experience than any of the competition.

I was pissed off however that the car has already sat in the dealership many times since I bought it, the tranny was already replaced once, as well as the flexible exhaust section in the front, fuel pump, and the timing belt system (4 tensioners, the belt, etc.)

i liked the power, and the ride and handling are way better than my 3rd gen (partially because of the act that my 3g has blown struts ), the radio controls, and the seats. i did not like the fact that the divisions between gauges blocked my view of the bottom third of the tach, the tiny rear window, the drive-by-wire lag while upshifting, or the clutch/shifter feel.

Went in to get a 3.5 Altima. Dealership sold it and tried to pawn the Maxima on me. First impression seeing a side view, "This is a a long *** car." Was about to walk away from the car when the dealer said, "Well, I got this Camry." WTF!? Was about to kick the dude in the nuts! I love my car, just every now and then have to make a 3pt turn when doing U-turns. hahah

Like others, I had had recent (summer, 2003) driving experience with the Altima 3.5SE, but didn't like the stiff ride of the Altima. (The Altima SL was a later addition, as most of us know.) Then took a Max SL around town for less than 5 minutes (did so by myself--no salesperson). No highway, just local streets. Was instantly aware of the greater stability, more substantial feeling of the Max compared to the Altima, and knew I would be buying the SL. I gave thanks to a kind member of the Altima Forum who responded to my complaints about the 3.5SE Altima by suggesting I wait for the new Max. I am totally indebted to him for doing so, and have never once regretted my purchase!

I test drove a V6 Sonata just before getting into the Maxima, so you probably know the end of that story. I drove out of the lot in the Maxima.

The dash is set low and the steering wheel when I first drove it was set low as well, so it really does feel like you are driving a car that is a lot smaller. It felt like a true sports car compared to the econobox Sonata. The accleration and driver feel between the two was like night/day. I also test drove a BMW 330xi, which surpringly reminded me of the Maxima quite a bit, but it had too many miles for the asking price.

Yeah it feels small til you try and park or make a uturn with that big a$$. Actually I'm curious to here what you thought of the V6 Sonata as I had some casual interest in that car about a yr ago (never test drove though).

1st impression was OK, it was an 05 that did not even have a pdi performed on it, so the wind noise of the plastic took away from the actual test drive, as well as test driving it during rush hour, but I still enjoyed it.

A couple months later I bought an 06 and that is when I realized how great the car was

Test drove my 04 SE rite after driving an 04 TL and the Maxi just felt like it had more guts. More power down low and better highway passing power...the only thing nicer about the TL was the interior
