Removed EGR

Removed EGR
Yesterday I removed the EGR, very easy to do. I would not recommend if u live in a state that is **** about their inspections. The damn thing felt like it weighed ten pounds but after putting it on the scale it only came out to five pounds. I did not have the right sized plug to cap my EGR port on the headers so I have to wait until tomorrow to get the right sized plug at work. Forgot my measuring tape at work so I cant tell u the size needed, just eyeballing it at the moment. I am removing the sensor part of the setup that the harness plugs into. Going to try and leave that part plugged in to see if I get a code. There are two coolant lines running into the EGR that I just ran to each other. Here are pics of the entire contraption, will post up pics of the engine bay tomorrow when I finish. Oh I forgot to mention I will fab up a blind flange, so to speak, where the EGR flange bolts to the manifold. For now just going to cut and crimp the existing one.

I thought about using a resistor but resistors will not work on OBDII vehicles..
as shown above I have unbolted the sensor for the EGR off of the unit and left it hanging to complete the circuit.. just finished everything and have no codes as of yet..
uploading pictures as we speak..

no, they have not permanently removed my codes as of yet.. I think we had a misunderstanding when I tuned and they did not get that done.
I am not saying there will not be any codes to come, as of right now no codes..
I have to ask if u left the sensors hooked up or not?? the circuit is not complete if u removed them completely. as shown above I removed the sensors from the EGR and left them hooked up and hanging in my engine bay.

All that was done on mines was the ends were capped off from the pipe that goes into the rear manifold.
I have yet to removed the EGR system itself, my SES light is EGR circulation valve
I was planning to reroute the pipe into the front of my manifold when we finsh with it.
If not I might complete remove all that because it seems like you have more room now.

I have a few pics from when I performed my Cattman Header install below.
It also includes a thorough cleaning of the EGR valve which was clogged by
the damaged Pre-cats. Hope it helps!!

I think recirculating exhaust gas is a poor choice in reducing emissions. It dilutes the intake charge and increases combustion chamber temperatures. The whole point of getting headers is to remove backpressure and allow exhaust gas to extract from the combustion chamber and then the EGr injects it back in?? Any thoughts?

well, according to my wideband the EGR does reduce fuel emissions.. that would explain why my car is running more rich...
I dont know exactly what the purpose of reducing emissions is but I would imagine reducing gasses exposed from combusted fuel is one..

Any codes as of yet? Have you measured your EGTs? Was wondering because i am considering doing this before I install the Kinetix manifold.

THis may be of help.....but Im pretty sure your egr system LOWERS combustion temperatures by retarding some of the combustion. This is the main reason to have egr..to lower NOX emissions. Oxides of nitrogen are produced at higher temperatures. So removing the egr would make you run hotter....Just a thought.
