2004 Maxima SE 151000 miles

I'm looking into purchasing a 2004 Maxima SE with 151,000 miles, black, beige leather, heated seats, navigation, sunroof, etc. It's in good shape, minor door dings no wrecks, clean carfax/autocheck for 7500.00 dollars. Is there something I should be looking for, and is the price right for that car with the mileage it has? I will appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

i wouldnt do it, the car is good and all, but at those miles its going to have a few problems with the motor and tranny. if its the 5 speed auto transmissions, alot of those go out being an 04, so check that. the motor might have a timing chain rattle too. and then the front suspension you'll want to have checked too. i wouldnt buy one of that year if i was you, get somethin in 05 or 06 with a few lower miles. but you can get it if you want, but be prepared to put some money into it

Personally, I would get an 06 with less miles. If that's not an option, look over the car very well and see about some kind of warranty available through a reliable company- not sure which one it would be.

yea that many miles you are looking at some problems, depending if previous owner had any major work already done to it. but yea I got an 04 currently at 103k and I'm on my 2nd tranny, and had the car for 3 yrs.

Yeah, I think so too. 7500 for a 2004 with 151k miles sounds like a lot. But if the car has been maintained as some org members maintain their cars, you might still be getting a good bargain. But for that many miles, and the cost, I would look into an 05 and up.

Is there a way you could get pics of the prospective car and post? Would be great for us to have a look at it, and maybe tell you more. Would nice to do this, if it is possible. Or if it is on some website, send us a link to go view it.

Dont do it. Price to high. Parts/mechanical is kinda expensive for this car. If you run into a problem it might cost you unless you can fix it yourself. I believe earlier 04 models with the 4 speed auto had problems. The transmission is not cheap in this car. You don't want to spend half what you paid for the car.

I hear the 08 bumper is quite cheap now. Buy you a new one, instead of getting my used one. Besides, I think you will not even like to take mine when I have a few very tiny wear and tear from highway debris, bugs and so on.

I have never thought of the gtr bumper. Will look into it and see.

105k on mine and I need a set of front control arms because the ball joint and arms come as one single piece. WIll cost $800, but I can buy them for $450 online and hopefully have it all done for $600. Thats some food for thought.

Thats alot of miles but if the car has be maintained you should be fine I mean I've seen these trannys go at between 35-45K miles so it all depends on how the car was maintained and was it beat on? how would you ever know

I believe you'd be able to find a lot better one for slightly more.
