Trans number three going in today

As the title says, trans number three is going in. Last February my trans went out and my warranty company replaced it with a reman'd Nissan trans. It started slipping again and now less than a year later with about 9000 miles on it, it's getting replaced... Again. I didn't realize that replacing it is part of the yearly maintenance.

Wow that's insane!!! I just had mine replaced at 52000 miles the mechanic who test drove my care didn't like the way it was down shifting so they replaced it under warranty. And to think I was only going in for a routine belt replacement. Maybe that's why they only give a 1 year or 12000 mile warranty because they know it's no good??!!!

I was never ever a believer in extended warranties until I was stuck w/ two $2,000 repairs on two different items(ABS & Catalytic Converter).

I'll always get it now.

My original warranty company was JM&A. At the dealership that I worked for at the time when I purchased the car the warranty was 12000 miles or 12 months. I replaced the trans last February and the new trans came with an additional 12000 mile or 12 month warranty. The original warranty only cost me $250 so it was well worth it just for the first trans. It cost the warranty company $4300 last time with the rental car for 37 days plus the additional $3500+ this time. So about $8000 in repairs over 1 year is definately worth it!!!

I wouldn't worry about the cvt. Those now have an extended warranty to 10 years or 120k. Plus, I have heard of less problems with the cvt's than the 4 and 5 speed autos.
