How to replace 2006 Maxima driver side mirror

Long story short, I broke my driver side mirror when I backed my car into my garage. I don't want to be ripped off at the dealer, so I found some cheap replacement mirror online for ~ 60 bucks +s&h, but couldn't figure out how to replace it.

Anybody ever replaced a side mirror or remove the door panel on the driver side? Is there any diagram or procedure outline?

Thanks in advance!

The inside panel's come off really easy. Have you been inside the door to take a look? I can't imagine it's too difficult once you reveal what's going on inside...

Theres 3 screws that hold the door panel on.

The first in behind the handle, next pop off the long trim piece thats on the arm rest, theres two more in there.

Pull the entire panel towards you and slide up a little.

Once thats done, the small speaker in the corner has one bolt holding it in place, remove that and unplug the tweeter. Theres 3 bolts that hold the mirror on. Remove those and GENTLY pull the mirror off from the outside.

Pretty simple actually...

I had all mine apart a week or so ago: http://forums.maxima.org/6th-generat...light-mod.html

Thanks a lot, guys! The diagram from sensfan1111's link and KCmaxx' descriptions and pictures really help!

BTW, KC, nice mod with the LED on the mirror! That looks really good!

KC, is your mirror heated? Did you take the power window panel off, too?

I found this one ehow.com....

It goes well with sensfan1111's diagram link...

Unhook the negative (black) battery cable before beginning. The Maxima has several electrical components within the door panel (power windows, locks, mirrors). Unhooking the negative battery cable will prevent shock.
Step
2
Insert a small flat-head screwdriver or a pry tool between the power window control panel and the armrest. Pop the panel up, and pull it away from the armrest. Unhook the three wiring harnesses from behind it.
Step
3
Remove the metallic trim cover that runs along the side of the door armrest. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the corner and pull it away from the armrest. The trim cover is only attached by clips.
Step
4
Remove the two Phillips screws from behind the metallic trim cover. Keep all the screws you remove in a small cup, so you don't lose them.
Step
5
Pry off the small screw cover from behind the inside door handle. Remove the Phillips screw behind it. Once this screw is removed, pull the door handle toward you and maneuver the plastic surround panel around the door handle.
Step
6
Pry off the door courtesy light lens. Once the lens is off, unhook the wiring harness from behind it.
Step
7
Pull off the fuel/trunk release. This module is attached by clips. Once you pull it off, unhook the harness from behind it.
Step
8
Start at the lower rear corner of the door panel and begin pulling off the door panel. The door panel is attached by tiny clips all around the perimeter. Once one section comes off, move on to the next section until the door panel is completely detached.

I haven't opened it up yet since I am a little worried that I might break something. :goofy:
