swapping new engine. questions!

Need to replace the motor on my 04 6spd its got 153k miles my question is if I buy a motor from an automatic car can I reliably convert it for my 6spd? and also will the VQ35 from other FWD Nissans also work? I think they have different manifolds and such, i'm not positive, for example Altima, Murano etc? Thanks in advance guys.

Why are you replaceing the motor ?
What are the reasons ?

yes you can swap 02-05 Nissan Altima
02-03 Maxima BUT you must change the manifolds because the 02- does not have a EGR.

Auto or 6spd / You just need to use the Flywheel off your car and clutch.
Motor bolts up the same.

Well first off the other week it stopped running while I was driving, than it was running fine but blowing out plenty of blue smoke, im thinking heads or head gasket. Now something doesnt sound right when you rev up, sounds like something inside is loose. Second, last year or so has been burning excessive amounts of oil up to 1Qt per 1000 miles, third, had the timing chains done a yr ago because they needed it due to the common problem and the mechanic that did it Im guessing didnt do the job 100% because id always pull a code afterwards for timing too advanced. This engine has had it lol but I love the car and don't want to get rid of if (also the trans is a new rebuilt by Nissan and only has 45K on it now)

So ur saying the 02-05 altima and 5.5-6gen max are the only cars i should be looking at getting an engine from? What about 05+ ALTIMA or MAXIMA?

Also, theres not different electronics and such that would need to be swapped if I was taking an engine from an A/T car?

There is no reason for any electronics to be swapped , all your simply doing is swapping the cores (motor) alone..

You can use the 05s and up Altys and Maximas with no issue.

07-08 Maximas had a plastic VIAS and I belive the 05 Altys and up as well.

You were probally leaking oil cause your Rear Main Seal is gone,

Nissan rebuilt your six speed? They told me that a rebuild could easily end up costing more than a new one. So I'm getting ready to buy a new one and swap it.

I'm gonna do it myself, courtesyparts has the HLSD for $1780. Did you go with the HLSD? I heard it is a night and day difference, but what do you think?
