'04 or '05 HLSD six speed?

OK, apparently in the '05 six speed they made the 3rd gear better. It should be an easy choice, but it is on back order. So I can get the '04 HLSD in a few days and it could take weeks to get the '05. Does anyone know if the difference is worth the wait?

The 3rd gear issue with the synchro was fixed starting in 2004.

I'm not sure what the problem was, I think my car was late '04 so I don't think it has that issue. How bad is it?

I just bought a used 05 SE and funny enough they told me the transmission had just been taken out and a new 3rd gear synchro put in. It shifts fine but just started leaking fluid a little between the case halves.

I don't want to hijack your thread, but are the gear ratios the same in all the 6 speeds? Also would a 6 speed out of an 02-03 fit fine in an 05? This thing sucks in the snow with an open diff.

I looked at the diagrams when I was looking and they don't even look close to the same, but I don't know for sure. I was just going to order a new HLSD from Courtesy Nissan, but ended up finding an '04 HLSD here on the board. I got really lucky. As for the 6th gens, from what I understand, the gear ratios are all the same.
