So, I've had my 04 SL for about a year and a half and...

...I'm currently on my third transmission, and my timing chain tensioner is starting to make noise.

First transmission was replaced under a warranty I bought from the dealership I got the car from (Feb '09). The second trans was replaced a year after that under the 12/12 replacement warranty(Feb '10). Now my timing chain tensioner is making all sorts of racket.

First Trans: $4500 including rental car - Cost me $100 Deductible
Second Trans" $3600 with free loaner car - Cost me nothing
Timing Chain Tensioners" $1500-3000 depending on where you go

Granted the transmissions were covered under warranties, but WTF is this all about. I bought a Nissan hoping to drive the car into the ground, and now all I wanna do is drive it off a cliff and have my GAP insurance take care of the rest. I'll have to shell out the dough for the tensioner bull****, but to have about $10,000 in repairs on one car in less than 1.5 years is terrible!

I'm very dissatisfied Nissan...

This is why you never buy a 6Th Gen Max with out a extended warranty!! I believe when they started building them in the USA the cars went to crap....No OVERLOOK from Japan.
The cars do drive very well but start having problems later in life. My tranny was replaced at 53000 miles the Nissan dealer where I go was cool and changed it out do to periodical rough down shifts. I don't know how long the new tranny will last but this car is history after the extend is expired at about 75000 miles. BTW just had a right wheel bearing replaced and the left one is starting to go. I am a Nissan person(this is my Fourth Nissan) but after this car who knows I do like the new Max or maybe the Infinity G37 have u seen the new Buick regal I saw one very sharp looking.

Here's my plan. I currently work for a Nissan dealership. I can fix my problem for 1200-1300 bucks. I can buy a 2 year powertrain warranty for $900. I think I'll buy the warranty and wait 30 days and get it fixed plus have towing coverage and other things covered.
