brake calipers and rotors

Alright guys I have a dumb question about replacing the stock oem rotors and calipers? Ive been looking at different websites and am confused as to why there are different sizes available, what the differences are performance wise with the sizes, and what size is the oem rotors on the front and back? Also which is best for aftermarket calipers rotors and pads?
Thanks

I say either look at what they have in the group deal in this website or buybrakes.com

Yeah check the group buys section for rotors. As far as the calipers, stock are fine, unless you plan on doing some heavy tracking with the car. You could always paint the stock calipers to dress them up. A lot of members have done that.

As far as the group buys... I was very happy with the slotted RTP rotors I purchased from Jason here:

where are you seeing different sizes? I have only seen one size when you enter the model and year.

Rotor replacement

Hi, MissMimi here. I just registered so NEW to forum, probably not using this reply correctly, so any help you can give will be appreciated. I drive an 06 Maxima 3.5 SE, which I love - bought it new and it's loaded (get a lot of compliments on how clean and well kept it is,everyone asks if it's new). Also love the fact that I can pull up by a hot car or truck at a traffic light, and when it turns green punch it and and burn rubber from a dead stop leaving them with their mouths hanging open. ANYWAY, I understand that the Maxima has a problem with the rotors worping due to them getting wet from rain and then getting hot. I had to replace my front brake rotors at 28,493 miles. I have 37,856 miles now. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Can I expect this again? Also, my passenger side tires are cupping, causing an irritating roaring noise and I want to replace them. Does anyone have any intake of the Primewell PZ900's, or recommend a good street legal 18-in tire.

stock OEM front rotors are 12.6
the rears I belive are 11 inch ( IIRC ) I would have to double check.

Now what excaty are you trying to do ? go with a bigger caliper and rotors ?
what is your reason for doing this ?
A)is your car a daily driven car to school or work ?
B)do you race or track /autocross your maxima ?

if A is your answer then just upgrade to some HAWK pads and a set of Brembo Blank rotors (12.6 inch )
80% of your braking power comes from the front , not the rear.

The reason I dont list cross drilled or slotted rotors is merely because cross drilled lets the rotors cool down better BUT you normally cant cut the rotors when you need to serive them, cross drill also eats away pads as well.

Slotted rotors is the lesser but still both slotted and cross drilled is more for cooling than anything.

How do you know that your rotors are warping ? do you feel vibration in your steering wheel ? how hard do you brake and drive your car ?
stop and go traffic will kill your brakes within 3 months.
esp if what you said ( punching the tires til it spins from a green light ) then stopping and the next light.
That alone will kill your brakes / tires and axles.
Our cars was not meant for racing unless your going to spend the money and beef every part of the suspension, brakes, tires /axles.

as for the tires , you probally have bad tires , could be a bald /flat spot for your hard braking , some decent tires would be nittos , falkens.. what size profile is on the car now ?

I was just looking around on partstrain and noticed that there are different sizes with the centric brand rotors. I had goodyear quote me 600 dollars to replace rear rotors, calipers, pads. The other day I noticed when I had the right rear wheel off that there was play in the rotor itself in the 12 oclock and 6oclock positions so i believe I will need to replace the wheel bearing also. Do these need to be pressed in or anything silly like that? I have never messed with those on these cars. The more I think about it though i am really tempted by the ebay rotors because they are not, as expensive and they also come with pads. Having said that it also makes me nervous cause we all know how imp. brakes are and ebay makes me nervous. This is why I seek your guys knowledge on the subject. i dont want to put any other size than stock on there and I just do normal(spirited) driving. Thanks

Before you start purchasing , did you check the group buy section ?

If its just normal to spirit driving , do yourself a favor and dont cut corners and pay a little extra money ,

Dont look at the size cause thats BS , thats only when your doing big brake upgrade 4 piston calipers and what not.

You DO not need to replace the rear calipers and I have no idea why they would quote you that high of a price.

In all honestly you can get yourself new pads and rotors for around $250-$300 depending how you shop.

Ebay is not that bad as everyone makes it sound.
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories

Ive got customers purchasing turbochargers on ebay and they are holding power in a 4th gen maximas and STIs.

Sure theres a chances of a bad batch , but its rare and if you do end up with one then luck isnt on your side.

I would go with some Brembo Blanks and some Axxis pad or HAWK pads all around.

its the best upgrade if you dont want to get into cross drill or slotted rotors.

Dont read into partstrain and their sizes, if they cant list the correct item for our cars then you dont need to be buying from them.

I can see if partstrain have differnt size for 350z since they come brembos and non brembo with differnt sizes.

The 2004-2008 Maxima never changed sizes UNLESS you decide to spend big money to upgrade to bigger rotors and calipers

Yes. Absolutely no need for a big brake kit if you never intend to track your car.

Go with what NiZ has said. Brembo/RTP blanks (slotted is more for looks, honestly), and Axxis/Hawk pads.

If you just wanted something to do put some 350z calipers in the back and paint them to look pretty.
