Dent Removal

A sheet of ice came off of the top of a semi the other day as it got on the highway in front of me and I totally nailed it going about 80 mph. It was pretty loud and I knew that I was lucky that it didn't get my windshield or my hood.

Anyway, now I have a fairly large dent in my front bumper right below the cornering light. (It is on the bottom strip of bumper). It looks like someone kicked my car with steal-toed boots or something.

I am going to go by one of those dent removal places, but wanted to see what you all had to say about those. Any idea of how much these things cost? The dent is about 4 inches across and probably an inch deep. I cannot stand it, most people say they don't even notice it, but of course I do.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

To get an honest answer, you probably should post a picture, that way there's a perspective of the damage thet your description.

And when you say dent removal places, you mean the paintless dent removal, right? Not a regular body shop...

There's no tear or crease, right? Just a bend in the bumper cover? I'd be interested to see it, and find out how much they quote you at paintless dent removal joint...

Yes, I mean a paintless dent removal place. I will try to add a picture tonight. The paint is messed up around the dent, it is cracked and such, but it isn't too bad. The actual plastic isn't cracked or ripped or anything, I don't think. I will see what they say at the Dent Doctor tonight, and let you know.

Thanks,

Thanks,
If the paint is cracked when you pull the dent back out eventually that cracked paint will start flaking off.

Didn't get a pic, but the dent is about the size of a fist, and like I said it is on the lower part of the bumper. The paint is cracked around it pretty bad, I talked to the people at the paintless dent removal place and they said to remove the dent it would be $65, and to fix the paint it would be another $65 or so, depending on if they can match the paint or if they have to order some. Either way, I am getting it fixed for under $150, and they assured me that I would not be able to tell it was ever there.

Hell of a lot better (cheaper) than replacing the whole bumper.
