I started driving today and the service engine light comes on. So in my way to work I stop at autozone to get the code read and the code was pl402 egr valve system. I searched online about it might be the cats of mil is stuck on. What is mil and how who I know if its on. Some please help and let me know what I need to do with taking to the stealership.

MIL=CEL=SES. Malfunction Indicator Light. I'm guessing you mean P0402, excessive EGR, as CEL codes do not begin with PL. I'd clear the code (check stickies for instructions) and see if it comes back before buying anything, as emissions equipment is not absolutely critical and it may have just glitched once. If it comes back, though, my best guess is you probably have an EGR valve stuck open because that's what the code suggests.

Heyy i got the same code on my 05 se maxima. I changed the sensor in bank one but a little while later the light came back on. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem for good??

Im going to have mine looked at on sat and ther ewgoing to start by cleaning the erg valve and the tube to see if its clogged.

After looking a the car today im going to replace the sensor first and if that doesn't work change the egr valve and the tube.
