Racingline FTSB?!?!?

Does anyone have any information as to when this will be in stock???? Seems that the concensus is this is by far the best option for the 2007 MAX and every time I look it is out of stock! Is there somewhere else I can get the same unit that I'm not aware of?

Are you happy with it? I heard for the 2007 that there was a clearance issue when closing the hood....

Well I heard you do not need to do any of that if you use the Racingline, correct? What you are talking about is with the Stillen, right?

Stillen is the other company thats makes FSTB for our car. Stillen RSTB rubs against our hood, thats the only issue I ever heard about them. I'm sure Dave, Chernmax, and the other Stillen FSTB owners can chime more about this. BTW, I love my Racingline FSTB!!!

I purchased my racingline fstb like a month ago and haven't had any issues with rubbing, you do have to move the ac out of the way a lil when installing it

This all confirms my research and the Racingline is the way to go! Again, the problem is that they are out of stock and I have been watching it a while on the website and have no idea if and when they will be back! I hope Chern chimes in on this one as well!!!

I tried, never got an answer back unfortuantely. I can't find them on ebay, craigslist, anywhere! I would consider buying a used one if someone offered!!! I don't see why anyone would let it go though unless I caught someone parting out their ride.

Oh great this is what I was afraid of. I really don't like that happening and everyone has been saying that was not a problem with the Racingline version. You are the only one who has mentioned that. Is there something else going on with yours that is allowing it to contact the hood?

It does rub a little bit on the hood, but there is an easy fix for it. I went to home depot and but some rubber weather-stripping and taped it up on the 2 contact spots of the hood. problem solved!

and even if you do let it rub, it really isnt bad at all... its just 2 tiny little spots. i was afraid of it happening to mine, but after it did, and i saw that it was minimal, i really didnt care. lol.

It does rub a little and it's very little and you can't heard it at all. After 2 years with the RacingLine strut brace on it hasn't even worn thru the paint on the bar it's just a little scuffed. The scuff is about the size of the fingernail on your pinky finger. The benefits in handling are well worth the cost of the bar.

RACINGLINE FSTB...

FYI - Just got a response from Joe @ Racingline regarding my message about the availability of the FSTB. He said that they should have them back in stock within the next two weeks or less.

I'm planning on getting one and a set of grounding wires as my first mods to my new ride! Probably won't be able to do much else for awhile, but at least those two things will be out of the way & I can enjoy the benefits of those items for awhile!

Thanks to Joe for his quick response to my email. I sent it yesterday afternoon! That's the kind of response I want from people I will do business with...

My guess is that he's talking about a 6 gen to 6.5 gen, different bumper covers, headlights and hood. Expensive enough that I would think just buying a 6.5 gen and trading in your 6 would be a smarter move. Some guys are stuck on their manual transmissions, and don't want a CVT I think is the driving force...

It can be cheaper to do the front end without trading the entire car. I only want it for the Mugen Lip. Without the lip I don't care.

Sure, it's cheaper. But follow me on this logic: if you trade in your car, get a newer generation with lower miles, the offset in price could be around $5000 let's say. To get the parts and repaint them accordingly will probably run you close to $3000. So, you drop $3000 on a car that's worth less then the newer one in resale value, essentially your investment is gone as soon as you put it on...yet if you went with the newer gen, you’d be in better shape value-wise say if the car got totaled tomorrow, for just a rough $2000 more. Sure, it’s cheaper to do it the other way, but why even spend the $3000 on the conversion, so someone can say hey, nice 6.5 gen ya got there…

I can convert way cheaper than that. No way in hell would I spend $3K on a front end. I can do it for $900 or less. No offense to whoever spent $3k. I'll own my Max in 12months and I don't want another one period.

Front end, figure average going price: hood, $200, bumper, $200, Headlights, minimum $200 each, then Fog's for new bumper, not sure, guessing 50-100 each with the black molding...then to complete the look, rear bumper, $200. Of course, this is all just bacement ballpark prices new, used market is still an option. Then you've got paint, figure $400 minimum for all 4 pieces, and that’s if you know the guy really well. Now, if you assemble everything yourself, that's still around $1500+ at best guess not counting the new bulbs for the lights that didn’t come with them. Most people don't have resources to get parts/paint or labor, that's why I inflated to $3000 at best guess when you figure parts markup and some additional labor. If you can do the entire front end for under $900 and make it look as good as stock, good for you.
