Non-Bose Audio upgrade 07 max
I know this has been posted many a times but i need a clear cut answer for me because i am still lost n confused on what i need to this
i listen to all types of music including hip hop and sometimes when the volume gets over 18 and up the sound just drops so im thinking:
do i need to change my speakers? or should i get a sub? or a 4channel amp?
also what wattage is the stock system and what is the maximum wattage it can hold because i dont want it to drain my battery/alternator
im leaning towards just changing the speakers and hoping for the best i know that the from ones are 6 1/2s and the rear bottoms are 6x9s
trunk space is everything to me and from what ive seen on some cars the subwoofer boxes are big
im just totally lost on this topic.
some1 please help and if you could post links to specific speakers or whatever it is u think i need that would be most helpful!!

It isn't your speakers, its the stock head unit's EQ curve as the volume increases. It cuts the bass back and also limits the highs if they get loud enough.
Replacement of the stock head unit gets rid of the EQ curve. Replaced mine with a kenwood dnx9140 but haven't replaced the stock speakers yet. Can't decide on which components to get.

I'm currently running a Kenwood KDC-X993...it's an awesome head unit, and one of the better single-din offerings out there right now. I've got Morel Dotech Ovation 6.5" comps up front with Arc FD6025 6.5" Co-ax speakers in the rear doors. I've got 2 Hertz EBX200R 8" subs in the trunk. I've got 3 Arc amps powering my speakers. I've got an Arc KS300.4 bridged to 350W x 2 to the front components, an Arc KS125.2mini @ 70W x 2 to the rear doors, and another Arc KS300.4 bridged to 350W x 2 to the subs. I've also got Dynamat Xtreme in my front doors, rear deck, trunk lid, and rear quarters. If you do go with a sub, you WILL lose some trunk space...no way around that. I'm willing to sacrifice trunk space for a great sounding system though! I'm currently pushing 1540 watts RMS, and I've got NO dimming/charging issues whatsoever. I still have the stock battery, and I have a custom 1/0 grounding kit, and "Big 3" upgrade.
