Tires for SE

When the Eagle RSA's had enough at 35k, I purchased a new set of Dunlop Signatures. They were great for the first 4k miles. Since then, tires have been rotated and rebalanced numerous times, due to steering wheel vibration and side to side movement, plus at 45-55mph the slapping sound of the tires. Last week I had enough and Goodyear indicated these tires were "fighting my suspension - sometime this happens". GY gave me a credit of about 55% of the tires (they had 14k miles on them) and I purchased Eagle LS-2 tires. No more vibration and tire noise - hopefully these tires won't crap out after 4k miles! (245x45x18). Don't know if anyone else had a similar problem, just wanted to share this experience.

you know, I have read tons on the RSA issues and to be quite honest I have not had any issues since I have taken ownership of my Max (over 2 yrs now)

I read a few threads about the RSA recall on our cars but did not find anything definite except that the recall ended back in 07.

I am glad you got 55% back from GY and the new Eagle LS-2's are not giving you any issues buddy.

So you're saying after a while of having the new tires they started vibrating and the tire slapping sound started happening? Interesting. Guess I gotta get new tires then, cuz I've had those symptoms for the longest time.

You keep up on the rotations and alignments? That's the main cause of 90% of all tire issues. I see it constantly at work at a national tire chain.

What about balancing them? Would not having them balanced ruin a tire?

Truff02 Where do you work? Not to bug but I do need balancing and alignment, speaking of that. Going on a road trip in about 3 weeks and want to get it done before it.

Maybe it's the rotors?

If not then you could try an alignment.

I am going with the new Nitto Invo tire once the ones that came with it (RSA's) need replacing. I have just under 36K now so we'll see.

se tires

Thanks for the input. At 35k I had a brake job (all four wheels) at the Nissan dealer, then headed to the tire store for the Dunlop's. These tires were rotated three times and balanced twice in their brief 14k mile career. Never had a problem with the RSA's, other than more miles would have been nice.
