Switchback problems

Switchback problems
I currently just bought a pair of 60 SMT switchbacks from V-LED and I was extremely happy when they arrived. Once I got them, I immediately decided to install them without the resistors since I ordered them later than the switchbacks. Anyways, I notice now that when I apply the brakes there would be one of two things would happen;
1. Both would turn off until I let go of the brakes.
2. Passenger side turns off while the driver side is still on and visa-versa
Does anybody have a clue about how to solve this problem?

That might be an issue but it's a direct plug and play so I'm not to sure.....
Nah man.....still on stock tails for now.

Yeah, I'm interested in their response too. The only issue that I'm having right now is that when I put the car in reverse. The passenger side switchback will go out until I put it back into drive.

i had this exact same problem with my switchbacks until i switched my tail lights out for the LED tail lights. Before i changed my tail lights my front passenger switchback would flash when i pressed the brakes and go out completely while in reverse. I used resistors and they helped a little but i was still experiencing problems. I believe when I switched to the LEd tails it equalized the current for the front and rear park lights. Just my theory. I believe the OEM tails were pulling too much current causing the switchbacks to go out when applying the brakes. Try removing the bulbs from your tail lights and see if that solves your problem. If so just but some led bulbs for the rear or get the led tails.

Ok I will definitely try that. So you kept the same 6 ohm resistors correct? Because it would be a really simple fix to order a set of led bulbs for the rear rather than having to replace the switchbacks with regular bulbs again.

If your replacing the entire tail light housing with the LED housing from ezkoncepts then use the same 6ohm resistors. Reason: The ezkoncepts tail lights have a 6ohm resistor in them and they would be in parallel with the 6ohm resistors you currently have thus making the final resistance 3ohms.

I figured out most of my problems were related to a insufficient ground. With my subs and amp and everything else pulling off of my stock electrical system, the ground was not good enough and thats what led to my lights having problems. After grounding the resistors to the sheetmetal, when I hit the brakes the switchbacks dim but nowhere near as bad as before.
Waiting on my other resistor to show up because during the install I somehow lost one . Hopefully the other resistor will be here after I get back from New York.

Tried new resistors, grounds nothing worked. At this point I have gotten tired of it and after emailing V-LEDs multiple times, their only response was to return the leds. So I just ordered some chrome/amber bulbs and the money I get from the return will go back into the Maxima.. So if anyone has any ideas for a really good $60 mod let me know..

that sucks bro - i got a good one where you can invest the $60 -->
get some stickers and rice out the car (i heard that each one gives you as estimated 2hp gains to the wheels!!)
in all honesty, I'd take the 60 and add another few bucks and grab either a grounding kit, led tails, y pipe etc etc
