Trade In Value= Lousy

Looked at a 2011 Maxima SV yesterday at local Nissan dealer. They offered me $13,000. real money for the 07 with 66K miles. They would take $5,000. off the $40K sticker of the new car. They also wanted $999 phoney prep fee and $599 for phoney documentation fee.
I thanked them and left.
Looks like we will drive the 07 until the wheels fall off or it hits 150K miles.

Yeah, cars have no value anymore. It also doesn't help that the manufactures are giving cars/trucks away with 0% interest for 60-80 months. In my neck of the woods the only car that continues to hold value is Subaru.

Yeah trade in value could be low but you know what.Half of the ppl who buy your car off a car forum gonna low ball you to death so it's not just the dealers.

who ever said a car was a good investment? everyone tells you it's one of the worst financial investments.
If no costly problems occur, how come no one ever plans on keeping a car beyond paying it off? why buy?
I shopped for a long time until a car offered all the features I wanted, looked appealing to me, and reasonably in my budget. No way I'm making over $500/month for 5 years just to get rid of it.

My best advice is to try and sell it yourself. I went to a dealer here recently and they offered me 5500 for my 06 Maxima with 45K. I laughed my *** off, cursed them out and left.

When I traded my 06 in for my 09, I got like 13k on the trade, seems typical, the dealer takes the risk of selling and making or losing on the car, my 06 took 6 months for the guy who bought it to actually sell it.

Im just sticking with paying off my 09, my only mistake was leasing the 06, otherwise that would be paid off and I would have an extra 600 every month
