2005 Satellite radio

Howdy everyone,

When I bought my Max, it had an aftermarket stereo in it but came with the stock setup. When I installed the stock system, it was pretty clear that whatever hack-jobber did the conversion just cut out whatever they didn't think was necessary.

Well, I have some open wires in my trunk area that I would assume lead into the Satellite radio unit? I'm not sure because, I've searched but found no pictures. Basically, I have a bunch of wires there just hanging out.

What I'm wondering is, does anyone have pictures of this and - where would be the best place to find it used (with pigtails, since mine was hacked to bits)? I'm assuimg this part is the tuner box, where is the antenna installed?

I'll take a couple pics today and follow up, I'm hoping everything I need is still in tact and not completely fubarred.....thanks all!

The inside of your trunk, hopefully by exposed wires you mean plugs hanging, cause when I installed my Satellite radio all I had to do was use the factory harness in the trunk and plug it in

Can you take a picture of what it looks like

Hey - thanks for the reply and sorry for the late response.....

Nope, they cut off the factory harness unfortuntely. I'll go out and take a pic in a bit and post it up - they hacked the harness up for some reason.

Well, here it is - as you can see I wrapped up the exposed wires....no harness to be found. Now to try and source one out....

Wow, it's really hard to make out what it should look like, my 06 had a harness in the trunk with an additional harness/plug coming off of it and I plugged the Sirius receiver into it.

Is your car SAT ready

Car is SAT ready, has the button on the stock raio. I was going to unwrap all of that, but the truth is under there is just a bunch of open wires (purple and white, yellow, etc if I remember right). I'm sure those lead to the harness that was so eloquently ripped out.

One thing you can see there (I think) is the antenna for the sat? It's just a small plug in - that looks to still be in tact.

So, am I in the right place for the sat plug? The pic is of the driver side right by the speaker.

Another crazy situation, Best Buy doesn't sell parts for stock radio setups? That makes no sense at all. So, I'm looking at this setup - anyone have it and would you recommend it?

drivers seat, you need to look in the trunk, pull the interior lining down, the underside of the rear shelf, below the 3rd/rear mounted stop light, you need to remove the giant plastic rivets, pull it down and then you should see the factory harness with the additional plug on it

the drivers seat, guess the previous own tapped in for a power supply, check ur trunk 1st I thought that was the area you where in the whole time

Yes, I am in the trunk....drivers side. Not behind the driver seat....

The pictures I posted are of the trunk, all lining removed, and shots of the wiring (though all wrapped up). I mean (and sorry for not being clear), is the harness supposed to be on the drivers side in the trunk? That's where all the spliced wiring is - drivers side trunk area near the speaker.

Well in the center, but I think your in the right spot, and you buy the antenna and run the wire from the roof mount to the trunk and plug it into the receiver

Look here: http://www.courtesyparts.com/maxima-...5840_5841.html

You need a receiver/tuner and antenna, I have a sirius receiver or tuner whatever you wanna call it, the website says it works on 06-07 but I think it should work on your 05, they did not change the radio between those years.

If you want it pm me, I'll give it to you, but you will need an antenna and also gotta figure out how to wire it up and plug it in

Thanks, I actually ended up ordering the whole kit to save myself from trying to piece the whole thing together. Appreciate the help - now I just have to wait for it to get here so I can install!
