Has anyone ever bought a 6thgen through E-Bay??

I found a 3 different 6th gens on the Net for cheap but 2 of the claiming owners are selling through E-bay. There claiming some kind of buying/selling protection doing it through ebay but I have no personal experience with this or know anyone who has done this through them. I'm a 3rd/4thgen owner but have been looking at copping another ride and stumbled across a couple of 6thgens that look nice(2004se,2004sl,2005se), two of the owners have responded so far. I was kinda thinking that for around 3grand they were all scams and now two of them are talking about buying though ebay. The most expensive was the '05 for 3650.00 with 88,000 miles on her. I'm looking for suggestions, opinions, comments and thoughts on this topic...good looking in advance. I just like to add before I submit this that 6thgens are some sick *** rides and some of the tricked out 6thgens on here are BAD ASSSS!!!

Get a 5.5 Gen. If you get an early 6th Gen, you are taking a big risk with the transmission/ABS/timing chain tensioners/etc.

Scam, scam, scam. That 05 maxima (if in good condition) is worth 7000 to 8000 easy. Its worth 3600 maybe wrecked. If you can not see the car and talk to the owner face to face you will be taken. Use your head or you will be out 3600 with nothing to show for it. And yes, you can be taken through ebay as well. These scammers are good and make it seem all legit, thats why they are good at suckering people out of their money. I would only trust a long distance buy from a good dealership, never an individual seller unless you travel to see it in person.

Wow you fell for the craigslist 6th gen maxima scam, the "I'm in the armed forces and the car is with me" or the "I work on a cruise ship and the car is in Jamaica", "send me the money and I'll send the car." If you actually believe that then send me the money and I'll ship you one

I bought mine off of ebay, but I wouldn't recommend it. Only buy the car if you or someone you know can check it out for you and verify there is no check engine light. However, I wouldn't even recommend getting a 6th gen in the first place.

I've bought 3 cars off of ebay including a 3rd gen and 4th gen maxima. The process was pretty smooth, but you do have to be careful. Use common sense and never send money/wire without seeing car first. Be sure to send any deposit through paypal where you have a measure of protection.

In regards to finding a 6th gen for that price; I'd bet it's a scam of some sort!

Also, I'd personally stay away from '04-'05 Maximas due to the problems mentioned in previous posts (tranny/abs/timing chain issues). Personally, I don't like the styling of the 6th gen. I'd rather have a 5.5 or a 7!

I got my 5.5 off eBay and it was a great deal but you're obviously getting scammed.

Nobody fell for nothing, just asking if anybody ever did this, I just told them I'd only do the sale in person of course.

I actually didn't make any moves, I email these people back talkin' about trying to hustle the wrong one and if they really had what they advertised they'd meet up in person with everything to sell there Max. You obviously found yours through ebay but I don't know anyone who actually bought a car through ebay.

I didn't get this far in life to just give my money away, I just wanted to know if there is any true sellers on ebay, that's all. I think members here thought I actually put money out there and now I'm worried about getting ripped off. The prices were the first flag and my emai to them from the bat was that they had to produce car, clean title, mechanical fitness I would inspect myself and of course this would be done in person. Good look on all comments, my gut feeling was a hustle/scam and of course the 2 who replied to my reply had some reason they couldn't do in person, nice try.

I found my 6.5 through an ebay classified ad. Went to check it out in nyc a couple days later, bought it that day. Haven't had any issues with it yet.

Ive never bought a car on ebay but certain problems Ive had by just trying to buy LEDs and such makes me never trust ebay enough to buy a car there.

If your gonna buy another maxima.....go for a 6.5 gen (07-08) with great warranties (120k mile) on their trannies.

What about a manual trans? Any major issues there? I have a Frontier (2007 SE Crew Cab 4x4 with the six speed) and with now 2 kids, the cab just isn't big enough. (I can't freaking stand my daughter kicking the seat all the time).

I found a stick 2006 near me, and was thinking of trading, but I've ready some wildly divergent thoughts on the subject here. It seems some of you love the car, but many loudly warn people away.

What's the deal with that? / Seinfeld voice

Yeah I'm mos def not putting any dough out there without seeing ride in person, Ive been looking at a few different rides. The Maxima is of course 1 of them and the others are...G35x Infiniti, A4/S4 Audi and 3 series BMW's. I'd be looking at the G35/350Z but I think a good 1 is out of my price range of what I want to spend. The Audi A4's are the most common being sold so there the cheapest and who wouldn't want a BMW. If I can find a well kept 6.5gen Max for the right price then that might be my new ride.
