Has anyone replaced the filter/strainer in a 5 sp auto? Looking at the service manual, it looks impossible without separating the trans from the engine. A lot of auto parts sites will sell the filter but it appear impossible to change unless the trans is out of the car. I have 131K and have the apparent valve body issue. I have done (3) drain and fills (60K,90K,120K) but I would love to change the filter if possible.

 

Does not exist, it's a screen inside valve body that you can call as transmission filter. It's not a serviceable part unless you want to tear apart your valve body for another reasons.
