@#!&$ Maxima!! made me LATE!!!

well its a GREAT f'n day for me. i come out to my car and instead of it being nice and toasty and warmed up waiting for me. Its cold and DEAD!! i dont know why, i haven't gotten that far yet. so im like ****, im gunna be a few minutes late, maybe i can make up the time on the freeway. i have jumper cables, and even a fully charged jumper box. So i open the car manually, and hit my trunk pop. *click* *click* *click* there wasn't enough power in the car to open the gatdam trunk. so i walk around to find my max has no f'n key hole!! WTF?! Now im getting pissed. i look everywhere for a manual latch, none, look under the bumper to see if i can find the cable, nothing. i get in the back seat and look for the latch to fold the seats so i can crawl in and open the trunk from the inside. (my power box and cables are in the spare wheel well.) NOTHING, the latch for the seats are INSIDE the TRUNK!! THERE IS NO WAY TO GET IN MY F'N TRUNK!! WTF?! W.T.F?!! who makes a car with an impossible to get in trunk without power!!!

am i missing something? is there a latch somewhere that works without power?! is the a hidden key hole in my trunk lid?! im still in disbelief in the magnitude of this design flaw!!! what the hell was Nissan thinking?!

so im late as hell, and i am scrambling around for an idea. I REALLY don't have time to call and wait for AAA. I grabbed my power drill battery, a pair of pliers, duct tape and some paper clips. the closest things i had on hand. I crimped a long line of paperclips together hooked them into the battery prongs, taped them apart, bent them around the car leads, and it opened my trunk. FINALLY.

but honestly, wtf? someone please tell me Nissan didn't overlooked this huge flaw and im missing something. what a crappy morning.

There should be a release on the deck by the rear speakers. Open the small cover to get to it and press the release button.

wow, i looked and it was the only latch i didn't check. I check them all and saw they were child seat "holsters" so i didn't check the last one. still tho, that allows me to go rear seat spelunking, but what about the practical older adult that cant do that? how do they get the trunk open with no power?

why? i found out there's a latch i could have used, and know this for the future. isn't that what this forum is about? to help people out when they need it? if you didn't get the point of the message it was to ask if there's another way i didn't know about while explaining a funny story. If you had a question or a funny story i wouldn't go telling you to go "bother" somewhere else. G's

whats your problem?

back on topic, is there a way to open the trunk without power? i don't have my Owners Manuel and there's nothing coming up in searches, a few similar stories, but not for the 6 gen max.

As soon as you drop the back center section there's a release there.

Page 3-11 of your manual.

If you're actually locked IN the trunk, there's a release there too.

Page 3-12 of your manual.

oh, so because i didn't go out and buy an owners manual to a car I bought a few months ago and thoroughly read it in hopes that i would know exactly what to do when i come out to see my car dead as a doornail in the morning before work, I am something you prefer not to say publicly. I would sure hate to see how you handle other things in life with that awesome logic of yours. you must be just so smart. and you must be so cool, can i have your number i wanna be just like you.

hey how did i do with the smiley faces? am i funny and witty like you yet?

Glad you found your answer. These ****ers around will go hard on you for stupid stuff. If you never messed with child seat anchors in the rear window, i could see you not knowing that the release for the passenger side of the back seat is there. But seriously, you didn't know where the manual release was for the trunk lid. How many times do you think it stared at you when you opened the trunk up.

noooo no, I knew where that was, the problem is i couldn't get in there because i didn't know how to get the seats down thinking all the plastic lids were just covering child seat anchors, not the button. i knew about that white safety pull, its what i was planning on using to open the trunk. i just couldn't get that far thinking the seats could only fold down from pulling the latch inside the trunk.

The easiest way is to get kidnapped... and no your foot probably wouldn't work if you're suggesting you could just kick the trunk open.

yeah thats right, if you tried to use your foot, the kid napper would hear you and he'd probably pull over and pistol whip you.

then you would be trapped in the trunk AND bleeding. and that's even worse.

once you have the seats down, you can open the trunk manually.

I believe the elite package includes a center console in the rear, the seats don't fold down. The previous poster is correct according to the manual you only have access through the central panel in the back set.

You could keep a set of these stored in your rear console!!! Although a direct battery to battery jump start is the best and fastest!

10 minutes not too bad given the circumstances

well its the original battery, and i had problems with the leads being loose before. so i can't tell you for sure why it died. definitely NOT the alternator.

so i would guess its time for a new battery.
