Transmission Removal
#2
as for DIY, if you have not dropped a trans before, i would really suggest not doing it in the maxima as your first transmission project... its not an easy project regardless of which vehicle, and the maxima, from what i've see hanging around under and in the hood, doesn't look to be one of the easier cases. my first transmission rebuild was on a 88 jeep. super easy compared to the maxima, and i had a hard time muscling it around with my jack and a buddy. so you will need two people (at least) helping you with removing and putting it back up there (unless your superhuman) so its not really DIY.
if you are having the valve body problem visit this web site http://www.lemonlawclaims.com/Nissan...n%20defect.htm
if you fight hard enough you may get an out of warranty replacement, depending on how old and how many miles you have on the car.
