2005 Maxima - floor rusted out

I have a 2005 maxima with 130,000 ( KM ) on it and found a sizable rust hole in the floor on the front passenger side today. I took it to a few autobody shops to get quotes on fixing it and two of them told me they thought I should go see the dealer as the car shouldn't rust like that being so new.

I went to the dealer and they predictably laughed at me. Anyone know of any type of warranty on the body against rust?

thanks

Good luck with the dealer, unless you have gone to them regularly for routine maintenance you will be lucky to get any support from them. I had rust around the glass roof panel after they replaced it under the recall and I had to fight like mad to get them to own up and fix it. Even then they did a poor job. When my 04 started to rust around inner rear wheel wells a couple of years ago the dealer wouldn't even look at it unless I was willing to pay. I have had to have it fixed twice since then both at my own expense. If you plan on keeping your car for a while I suggest you pay to fix it then get the yearly oil rust proofing treatment.

Good luck with Nissan but don't expect to much help.

That's funny .... the paint and the wheels are worth more than the ancient car they're on.

But seriously.......why would you go to the dealer. Nissan are legendary for body rust.

If your floor is rusted out go to a body shop and have a plate welded in for a few hundred or less. That issue isnt a big deal .

Up here in Canada the rust warranty is different. I would advise you to talk them in to fixing it for free or threaten them that you will go to CAMVAP...it's basically Canada's equivalent to the USAs Lemon law. All Canadian cars are supposed last up to 10 years without rust penetration by law. Google CAMVAP....Please stop hijacking important threads! Where is the moderator?

My 2004 shows the same situation. What was the ultimate fix?

Thank you to those who didn't come post to flex their internet muscles. Talked to another dealer and found out there is a 6 year, unlimited mileage warranty on the 'structural integrity' of the car that a rust hole in the floor would be covered under. I am five months outside of that 6 years, so I'm out of luck.

same here!

my car failed inspection, same prob, pass side floor, apparently there is a "plug" that falls out allowing water to seep into floorboard and gets trapped between floor carpet & floorpan, rotted out a small hole- failed NH inspection, i fixed mine but wasnt impressed! yes this obviously is a prob with this car and Nissan should stand behind their car!
