Try and go to an auto paint supply store and see if you make that color for you. Most places look it up by vin number.

My fault they probably won't have it in a spay can nor will anybody else. BUT, you can ask the people there to see if they got a paint that is pretty much perfect in matching the color of your ride. Then test it out. Which is going to involve you buying some and spraying it on a piece of cardboard or something to see if it matches. If it doesn't than clean it up and return it LOL

You can get a your ride's paint from an auto supply store but you'll have to buy a paint gun to apply the paint. If they can make it for you that is. Don't know much your willing to spend though. Here's what I found on a quick google search:

http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&h...w=1024&bih=705

Another option is to have a body or paint shop do it for you. It'll cost a little more but it's going to be perfectly color matched. OH YEAH, you could ask hero782. He got his headlights to be color matched and may give you a suggestion on where to get it.

Most use this method to see the difference in finishes with different brands of paint with the same color from each.

EDIT: Napa is a good spot. But, if they don't have it than an auto paint supply store which obviously specializes in automotive paint will. Although, their prices are kind of going to be up there since they usually carry the high end stuff.

idk if paint out of a can is sufficient since our cars have a pearl. When you buy paint from the auto paint supply store, it comes in 2 different parts (cans), one for base and one just for the pearl. It's most likely not going to match if you do find one... not to be a debby downer

check to see if it match or is close fight.

they most certainly do make spray can color code matched paint... there are tons of online venders. just put in your make model and color, or vin number, an they send you a can of your paint

http://www.paintscratch.com/ is one of the many web sites

type, "color code spray paint"
or "automotive spray paint"

Yup, you can get the plastic spoons from wherever and test the paint out. Just spray it down. Add primer and clear if you want to see how that would look too.

Basically the plastic spoon is going to be your practice dummy.

If the paint code matches than you should be good and yeah, there's a LOT of different shades of silver. Every brand has their own different shade and most of the time. It isn't going to match or even get close.

Yeah, I meant if you were going to do a one or two tone on the engine cover LOL. A black and silver engine bay will look sick man.

But yeah, that paint job you got planned for the rest of your ride is gonna be CLEAN man.

No problem, the beauty of customizing your ride is that you can do it whatever way you feel. There's no need to rush. Plus, when you doing something like that then you got to tape off the pieces you don't want painted. Spray the rest down and let it dry and cure. Then you can tape off the pieces that have been painted and put some additional newspaper to cover some big areas up.

The reason why you let the first color dry first is because if you don't wait as long. Then when you put the tape over it. It'll leave marks that you aren't going to get out. Here's a quick search I did on cardomain since there's WAY to much rides on here and it'll take a WHILE before I even get to a pic with an engine bay for a 6th gen. Here's the link:

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/388690...edan-4d/page-6

(Yeah, he looks like he's trying to bite jsmitsh's ride but it might not be the case. Who knows.)

If your trying to paint the VQ 3.5 a different color from the rest for example. Just the whole thing first except the nissan burger (If you want that look). Then tape it off real nice so that the VQ... is showing. Use some newspaper and cover the rest so you don't get any overspray. You don't have to worry about the sides of it if you don't want to. But it'll look more clean and professional if you taped it so that you got everything isolated from the main part of the cover. Sand the VQ.... down. Clean it real quick, dry it, and paint it black or silver if you want most of it black.

I found napa to be the best for this. Went in with my paint code and for $20 they'll give you a rattle can of your paint. Matched fine.

Yeah, I remember. I recommended that you paint the other parts silver. It would still match your calipers that you painted IMO.

Anyways, if you want to change the color than I would recommend that you sand off all the old paint first. But, EDIT: another way is that is: you can use some bumper stripper which is safe for plastic parts unlike regular automotive paint stripper. And since you have already sanded it down already. I would recommend this:

http://www.toolrage.com/prodview.asp?sku=SEM-77713

It'll save you a lot of time from sanding it down. Make sure you buy some chemically safe gloves and follow the instructions on the can to a T:

http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CIIBEPMCMAE

Eye wear and a cheap mask. You DON'T want to inhale the fumes that this stuff gives off. This will save you a LOT of time from sanding it down. Which is a pain in the azz.

i have had very good experiences with automotivetouchup.com. I have used the rattle can color and clear and am happy with the results. each can of color is made specifically for the order and shipping is a little slower (has to be ground) so order a week or so ahead of when you want to do the painting. I have also used the paint and clear for spray guns and was equally as impressed. their prices are about half of paintscratch.com, IIRC.

You could get this stuff at the local auto shop. For example, autozone:

Its color matched paint in a can. If your trying to do accents in your engine bay on your covers, then im sure this will be a good enough match. I haven't used it but the guy at the store said they match very well. Im not sure how well but for seven dollars a can i would try it. Of course test it, i looked at a sample spray from the shop of my color and it was a really good match.

Don't forget the Clear.........
