Is this a sign of fuel pump going bad?

I had posted that my Max had a stalling problem, only for the first start, when I started the car, it would die but after starting it like 3-4 times giving it gas, it would start fine and then no problems. It would idle ok with no changes in the rpm and drive perfectly. No loss in power or fuel economy. I replaced the MAF thinking that it was bad but the problem still persists.

If I leave the car on ACC without starting for like 10 seconds ie prime the fuel pump, the car starts 10 out of 10 times and runs perfect

If I immediately start the car after putting the key in 1 out of 10 times the car dies, regardless of me trying to give it gas like its out of gas.

I have put Seafoam in the tank and only use premium fuel (tank is never less than half)

So my concerns are is the fuel pump going out? Our fuel filters are maintainence free so not sure if that needs to be chaged. Or should I look into Crankshaft position sensor for the start? Please help! The car starts and runs fine with leaving the key on ACC for 10 seconds.

My guess is that it is the crankshaft position sensor. I had a similar starting problem and just let it go until the CPS threw a code.

Check this thread for a diagram: http://forums.maxima.org/6th-generat...advice-2.html.

Replacing by yourself will take less than 30 minutes to replace and cost $30-45.

I am not sure how to test the sensors. Maybe someone could chime in for a resistance reading across the electrodes (or other method to test).

I had/have this problem on a startup after car has sat overnite, or for a time.

I replaced the fpr and it went away, then came back maybe 2-3 wks later.

Replacing the fpr lessened the severity, but didnt solve it.

It is getting worse now. The other day the fuel pump was louder than usual(a louder whin).

So, i reckon im gonna check the fp out and see if thats it.
(when i checked the fp ohms just before i replaced the fpr, it was within spec.)
