D2 racing coilover bottom out or bounce

My buddy installed them straight forward n I asked him to check if spring is loose or spin. He said it suppose to spin if we put our hand on the spring. Will if spring is loose or spin that can cause to bottom out or bounce. Correct?

If I'm right anybody know how to 0 pre-load them. All side spring spins front n rear. I know something is wrong.

I have D2's as well and the spring shouldn't be loose to spin by hand at all. use those two captain hook looking tools and tighten them up. but do not tighten them down like it is a bolt. tighten them enough where you can't spin them by hand.

Thats how i did mine and there is no sound or rattles from bumps at all.

in your link, where it shows B and C those are the 2 you loosen 1st. then tighten up B just enough to where the coilover stops moving by hand. then tighten C from there.

Use those hook looking tools that came with your coilovers. by the way did you purchase them new or used? if used did it come with the tools and the adjustment allen key?

I purchased them new n they came with spanner, Allen key. In order to tight top strut center nut we have to jack car off the ground to make them tight, bec when car is on the ground while we tight the center strut bolt, the whole shalf keep spinning?

So when coil stop moving after that I don't turn 3 full turn like the link said above then bring the c tight with b collar?

Or

When coil stop then do not make 3 full turn n tight c collar.

Which one am I right above?

Okay I tight the spring down all for corner, so I'll see how they drive tonight. Bad new for me my driver side axle leaking causing clunking sound n bouncing I guess.

alright, that works. also to adjust how you want the ride to feel ( i put 8 in the front and 9 in the back) feels most comfortable.

turn the adjusment on all 4 all the way to the left, then start with the front, turn it and youll feel and hear a click, turn both fronts upto 8, (count each click) do the same for the back but put 9

ok first of all how much preload did u put on the spring??
what is ur dappening set on??... i personally put it on hard all around (no homo)
how low do you have the car?
how much of the strut is sticking out the bottom of the front coils?
how much of the strut is in the rear cup of the coils?

all these questions play a factor into ur ride.. ur axel will not cause bouncing just clicking sound and maybe vibration depending on how bad it is....
pics help too man...

{B. Spring Perch
u want enough preload on this to reduce bouncing adjust it to the hieght u want and mark it with a black marker in one of the slots so if it moves u know}
{C. Spring Perch Lock Ring
make this meet the spring perch and tighten both of them using both coilover keys/wrenches}
{D. Lower Lock Ring
make sure this is tight also}

{E. Lower Mount
have some of the strut stick out on the bottom of the lower mount not too much just enough to clear the cv axel }
{F. Black Lower Lock Ring
tighten this down as much as possible also}

what i did is mark the each coil ring with a perminant marker in a certain spot so if it moved/started unwinding even the slightest i would know....

For the preload I just tight by hand until spring stop spinning by hand then bring lock ring to tight preload collar. That it all I did lol. For dampering is 22-26 out of 36 in front n 18 of 36 in in rear. Car is pretty low with stock 17" wheel. I think 1 gap in front n I can't put finger in the rear.

I'll make a video while I'm doing preload again n post it here when I get done.

For the preload above I know I didn't do it right correct if so tight preload by hand then turn 2 full turn around then I'm done finally bring the lock ring up?

I forgot I just don't feel stiffer on this coilover like handling n I can't feel bump. Before this I had bc racing in that I can feel stiffer handling n bump. Maybe I need turn 2 turn around on preload then tight the lock ring. Correct?

I missed this part. Okay if I turn hard direction which making ride stiffer n soft direction which made car ride softer. Correct?

Does this mean you figured it out...just recently did the fronts a weekend ago and the rears last weekend, BC coils came with pretty straight forward instructions....but Good Luck....
