Trying to trade my max

hey guys, after getting past the tranny problem and changing all the front end parts.....the shimmy in my steering wheel has got me thinking about heading to a dealership to see if i can trade the max for something that might give me less headaches. it's and 05 max fully loaded; leather, navi. with 100k miles on it. everything works except for the steering rack. body is in fairly good condition. i currently owe about 10k on my current loan. my credit is not great, but i havent checked my score since i got the car a little more than a a year ago. now before you guys start thinking im a deserter, i wanted to point out that i'm gonna try to trade it in for a 09 max beacuse i've heard and read good things about the cvt. i'm also looking at maybe a 06-08 FX35. so what do you guys think? can i do this without going too far in the whole with my current loan? how much do you think i can get for the trade? are my hopes of leaving the dealer with an 09 max unrealistic?? any advice or suggestions are always appreciated.

and now some pics....

10k is about the trade in value, so you're ok there. If you could have a decent down payment, say $1000 or more, you should be able to get into something else.

i figured.....i was hopping to avoid going out of pocket with a down payment, but i guess that might be unrealistic. either way, imma go by some dealerships on tuesday to see what options i have; if any....hopefully they wont laugh at me lol.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but a 05 Maxima with 100K costs about $6500 at the auction for dealers. I would be surprised that the dealer would offer you any more than that unless they are shafting you on the new ride. You have already paid for the Max, ignore the shimmy and enjoy the ride till your credit gets better or you pay off the car..

Buy my 2008 maxima just shy of 45,000 miles on it almost. . It's the platinum edition. It's got every option but a navi. It's brand new looking and acts brand new still. All synthetic oil changes. Leme kno

^^^^^ hmmm this thread just got interesting, LOL.

OP if you do get a trade in, you are probably going to be upside down on the loan on the new ride. hang in there as long as you can with this ride, especially with your credit history. DO NOT rush into anything. good luck

This coming from a car salesman, your car isn't worth $10000 for trade. You're looking closer to $8000-8500. Plus, being "not great credit," you're looking at putting a large down payment into the loan plus taking care of the negative equity. Honestly, you'd be better off just fixing the problems with the car and driving it till the wheels fall off.

Stick it out, I traded in for a new 09, larger longer payments is not winning

Thanks for all the info guys. Don't know why someone would b so quick to call another person a "retard" for giving their opinion or info. That's what we r here for. If a dealer would give me 8000-8500 for my car that would b fine since kbb says its about that much. Ill see what the dealers tell me then ill keep everyone posted. Maybe the info will help someone else who doesnt post their questions because there are loosers on here who start their posts with "retard".
