Possible bad Water Pump?
Possible bad Water Pump?
I started seeing water coming from underneath my car after I parked, even when I didn't have my AC running. Didn't think too much of it, but should have. Also, my fans consistently stay on after I drive the car.
So I crank the car up and here a grinding noise, which I think sounds like a bad timing chain or a bearing was loose.
I park the car for 5 minutes and the temp. gauge rises to the top, but no smell of coolant. Now everytime I stop at a light longer than 2 minutes, the temp gauge rises.
Could this be my water pump?
Also, I had a radiator flush this past April.

Well coolant issues are not easy to pin point the problem unless you are there. so i will do my best to help but i need some questions answered to narrow the possibilities of where the gremlin lies.
1. what about your overflow reservoir? is your coolant leaking from the overflow or the radiator?
2. is the "water" on the ground actually antifreeze or is it H2O?
an inconsistent grinding noise is usually a result of a bad bearing. a clacking or steady or repetitive noise is usually a bad chain.
3. does your car slowly drop in temp after its maxed out or does it drop fast?
4. does it drop immediately when you start driving or does it remain maxed for 30+ sec before it drops?
i am trying to rule out a sticky or bad thermostat.
5. check your high and low return hoses. do they have any sticky dirt or dust caked residue?
check your actual radiator, top to bottom and look for signs of a leak.
I am really hoping you don't have a warped or cracked head gasket. this will be bad news.
last question is, how often do you need to top off the coolant? how much?

Who flushed your system ? yourself or one of those small shops ?
you got trap air in the system , bled the system and start from there, thats more than likely your culprit.
I dont know the mileage, or where you live ( which is a factor)
also the grinding could be your starter motor/ depending if your a 6spd.
and are you sure its a grinding VS a ticking noise ?

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but where is the "water" landing in reference to the engine?
I have noticed several times this summer that after I park my car, "water" drips from the passenger side of the engine bay near the firewall... I'm assuming this is condensation, but I'm just hoping to rule out that my waterpump or head gasket has gone.
Best of luck in finding a solution!

Being that this thread is about heating / cooling components of the car and I cannot post any new threads because of my membership "privileges", I'm going to post my question here. I've been having issues with my heating, it only gives hot air when I press the throttle. Whenever the car is idling, the air is cold and stays cold. Has anyone ever experienced this problem? What can be causing this? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks
