Hi Guys..
Is it safe on the tramission to hypermile a 2007+ CVT trans Maxima?
By poping into Neutral then glide til stop at a red light.

Well, I am thinking that the computer will ultimately stop you from doing anything catastrophic that will damage the transmission out right. That is not to say, however, that you cannot do damage to the transmission.
With what you are talking about, the main issue I see is that you will be lousing out on the gift that the transmission provides in resistance when taking your foot off the accelerator. By doing what you are talking about you will lose out on that and in effect use more, over a given period of time, of your brake rotors/pads to stop the car at slow to moderate speeds.

this is a bad idea. think about it, you are needing to move your transmission from drive to neutral and neutral to drive multiple time a trip.. where do you think the power comes from? gasoline. now does it take more gas to disengage/engage your transmission than to coast.. who knows... but this is problem one.
problem two is, your are going to be using your transmission (engaging/disengaging at every light/coast) 100x more often than anyone else. meaning nissan did not build their transmission to withstand the way you are planning to use it. this will be significantly adding to the wear ad tear and increases the potential to need a repair or with cvt (like you have) a complete brand new trans. so in the long run you will not be saving any money imo.
also what terronious said... you will be using more break pads.
when you are coasting, your car is idling. its using the same amount of gas to stay running despite what numbers it says on the tach. meaning the fuel consumption is going to stay constant whether you disengage the transmission or not. this defeats the purpose of your idea...
as a rule of thumb, driving a car in any way not foreseen by the manufacture is not recommended.

I thin k its an idiot who asked this question. If you want to hypermile go yourself a shi!tty prius. Sure your save on gas but you can just use that money to buy new batteries, which i think cost around 8 g's. Oh and by the way, get the fuc out of mine with your hypermilin bs..i will run yur a$$ over.

seriously tho... that was uncalled for dee.
theres nothing wrong with trying to save gas.
a good tip is to use the low flow setting on the gas pump. when you use high flow you are creating extra vapor which is returned into the pump and recycled back to the gas station.
also fill up in the morning while the ambient air and fuel is colder and more dense. remember liquids expand with heat leaving less fuel per gallon.
cruiz control everywhere. slightly accelerate going down hill and lift off a bit while going up hill. momentum is your friend. plan ahead.
stay within 55-65mph. at this range your car is most efficient.
make sure your tire pressure is 32-36 psi. 36psi is best. low air pressure is a HUGE factor in gas mileage.
buy a sri or cold air intake. These setups will pay for itself in just 1-2 months if you make them yourself, if you buy a brand name one it will still pay for itself in savings but more like 4-6 months. I added around 2-3 miles per gallon with mine. which is 50-60 miles extra per tank which is 3 gallons and 10-12 bucks per tank. probably the best thing you can do for MPG.
block off plate- benefits are hearsay and have no proof but it cant hurt. i have one.
remove the spare tire (50lbs!!!) and your jack. if you are like me and have AAA road service you don't need a spare tire and the odds of getting a flat don't outweigh the saving your will earn over time.
use synthetic oil. this is also huge. you can get 1-2 MPG extra with synthetic oil.
new and larger gauge spark plug wires and grounding kits help.
high flow exhaust setups also add to MPG
now i don't ever hypermile, i bought the maxima for its performance and with the understanding that this car does not get great gas mileage. I am ok with spending a few extra bucks in order to enjoy my drive without the stress of wondering if your saving gas by doing this and doing that every day...

Why did I ask? Because my friend claimed it save gas and etc.

It is light flipping a light bulb on and off as fast as possible, rather than just turning it on an letting it burn. Inevitably the bulb that your switching on and off is going to but out sooner.

Why don't we just take out the airbags and doors off as well? The chances of us getting into an accident don't nearly add up to the money we'll save on gas!
FYI when you call AAA, they don't repair your flat, they'll tow you to a shop OR replace it with your spare tire if you had one. Keep that in mind before you start taking your car apart to save $0.03 on gas each week.

I gained an average of 2 mpg by switching to lighter rims.
so do the math. i fill up once a week. so if im saving 10 cents per gallon thats 2 bucks a tank. times 4 is 8 bucks a month. and i haven't had a flat in 2 years. so times 8 by 24 and you get $192.00 in savings by simply leaving your spare at home. now i low balled the actual result. so double that number and were looking at 400 bucks in savings. lastly i have a can of fix a flat. the stuff works great. i've used it on my quad dirtbike and 2 flat car tires in the past. its 15 bucks a can and will get your around for about a week. so again between that and AAA i am safe.
besides i didn't take out my spare for the gas savings. if i was interested in saving on gas i'd just drive slower but i don't want to or care to. i just know about it. i took out my spare for performance. better acceleration, better cornering.

Yes but fix a flat causes problems. It will unbalence your tires because depending on the temp will go from a sorta solid, to a sorta liquid. So if you ever use this stuff be sure that when you get your tire patched to have the tire guy clean all that **** out.
