C-mod Nissan Maxima 04-06 Sport Grill (New Design)

If there is a popular demand, we may consider redesigning a new grille for the Maxima 04-06, which one do you like?

This is the old design:

Not feeling it, where would you put the nissan emblem? What you need to do is revise the existing one. Get rid of the bottom hump. Many maxima owners agree. You should try and make it look a bit like the 2007-08 grill.
Anyway, here's a look without the bottom hump.

without the "hump" the grille wouldnt line up with the bumper. You would have gap between the bumper and grille

I think I like the old one better too. But maybe because I have been used to seeing that one only. Maybe throw in some more suggestions or ask the 04-06 to give in their input.

Will you be doing a revised version for the 07-08 any time?

All of the new designs look terrible. Stick to the old.

Ah yes, a redesign.

Is a redesign limited to adding to the existing design? Because IMHO, and in now way am I trying to insult anyone but rather help, there are a few things that could be fixed. If they were fixed I think more people would buy them.

1. Make the frame of the grill extend all the way to the outer surface of the bumper. The grill is set too far in the bumper, making it look a bit awkward from any angle other than head-on. It would look a lot better being flush with the bumper, and this may help get rid of the bump at the bottom of the grill as well.
2. Sharpen the edges. If you compare the edges of the grill to edges on the Maxima, they are a lot softer and rounded. That was an issue with the GT-R front bumper that was made for the Maxima and seems to be so with this grill as well.

Here is an example of a more flush grill.

If you were to add horizontal lines as you are suggesting, I think more lines would be better. Two thick vertical lines on the sides, two thin horizontal lines top and bottom, and four equally thin horizontal lines in the middle, gradually curving more as you approach the bottom line. It is something I've always wanted to try as it seems like it would have more of an OEM look.

These are only suggestions, but I hope it helps.

I guess the guy meant, the grill should be more flush, not remove the hump

If I had to choose than design B looks better but, if the overall boarder was a bit thinner on the old design then it would look a lot better.

What about a complete makeover? Rather than adding something to the old design, we can make a new mold from scratch.

It would be a good idea to upgrade the look of the Maxima 04-06 to a 07-08, basically a new grille which looks like the Maxima 07-08 but custom designed to fit on the Maxima 04-06 front bumper.

Old design:

New design:

To further improve the design, it would not have the round bottom bump in the middle as it would line up with the edge to cover the gap on the front bumper, it would also look more angular with better proportion of the grille frame like our C-mod Maxima 07-08 Grille.

The question is that do you like the new grille to sit slightly indented or flush with the edge of the front bumper?

If you can take the 07-08 c-mod grill and do those lines to the 04-06 bumper, you can count me in for a purchase.

x2...the lines on that grille are just so much better than the old 04-06 one. I sold my c-mod grille to go back to a black stock one, but would definitely buy another one if the original was just redesigned more like the 07-08.

IMO It would look a WHOLE lot better if the new grille was flush with the edge of the bumper. With the old grille, it looked kind of off when you look at the car from either side.

If those changes are made then I would definitely get a c-mod grille in the future. It would also help if the buyer doesn't need to modify the plastic piece that's used to line up to the wholes to install the grille. That would save a bit of a headache that I've seen from what other members were going through.

Not a fan of the horizontal bars, but I like the idea of having it flush with the bumper in the 07-08 style.

I voted B but a redesign on the current would be good with sharper lines like the 07. All the way around the frame and a better mesh.

Flush or indented? That's a tough one, I have to keep looking it more.

For me, upgrade the mesh and I would be fine. But if there HAS to be a design change, make the grille flush with the bumper and hood. Im not worrying about making it look like a 6.5, Im planning the conversion anyway.

Okay yeah I was looking at my more closely. Sharper, thinner lines are definitely in order and a better mesh. I think most end up replacing it. A nice powder coated black would be best imo.

Like this: (actually I was considering re-doing my mesh to a smaller oval, same black powder coating. You can see through it more than I would like.)

The ActiveTuning grill looked best but its cost was way too high.

yeah, that's what I have. They don't sell/make them anymore. Activetuning grille puts this cmod grille to shame, but hopefully if cmod decides to redesign it to look more like the 07-08, then I will bow my head to cmod.
below is a link to activetuning and car pics of maxima owners who bought it.

This seems to look more form fitting to the bumper. I'd go with this one with the Nissan or Nismo emblem.

I honestly think this design isn't half bad looks similar to the Infiniti grille
