Cutting a fujita CAI. should I do it?

I have a Fujita CAI that came with my 04 6 speed when I I bought it and I really like the way that it looks and soundsI but with all the bad weather and pot holes in NYC im thinking of cutting it and making it a short ram intake. Is this a stupid idea? What would be the advantages and disadvantages of doing this?

Why are you getting rid of it due to potholes and bad weather? You mean from debris? If that's the reason why not trying to cover it up with some kind of mesh or material to prevent the debris from going directly to the filter.

Oh that's weird I guess it flood every day where he live.I mean I have the same cold air intake and the only problem I had was the debris was getting through my GTR front bumper and was going directly to the intake.

The undercarriage sheld should prevent what's coming from underneath.I had to remove mine so I was getting that debris from the bottom as well as the front.I had to clean the filter every so often

^ +1. my CAI is made of several pieces so I can take off most of it and convert it back to a SRI if I want to. I wouldn't do that unless I was driving around in flood-like conditions but nice to have the option
