07-08 Max Shifter ****

Ho guys . My grandpa gave me his shifter **** out of his Lexus and I wanted to know if it was possible to do a swap out with my current max shifter ****. If this is possible, dose anyone mind making a YouTube video on how to do it? I would certainly appreciate this. Thank you in advance hope you all had a good thanksgiving

LOL, I can't help but laugh way too much.

I see twentyeggs has gone and the org feels different with no long string of curse words. I truly hated that. Oh well, I am glad we have "policemen" on here.

As for OP (Rsprince89), you talk about people being lazy, while you fail to see you might be the lazy one who does not want to search and try it yourself as RAZ76 says. I think your approach of saying people might be lazy is uncalled for. Just ask your question WITHOUT telling people they are lazy. If you were not too lazy yourself, you could find all this info alone without starting a thread.

Do you know how much time it would take someone to make a youtube video just to show you that? And then you want to call people lazy? Wow, some people.

It is very ok if he comes back, hopefully with a more friendly tone. I think he makes some people get on the org just to read his posts whether interesting or not. But he does contribute quite well too. My only problem is the use of long strings of curse words and some very aggressive tones sometimes. Apart from that, I just hope people can learn and behave themselves on here. It is a very friendly place and we should do our best to keep it like that.

Back to topic..., any response for OP?

My response was serious. If someone gives me a shift ****. My first instinct will be to go to my car, see if mine unscrews or however it comes out and if does unscrew, does the other shift **** have threads or how does it attach. How hard is that? Now if he was to buy a shift **** and he wanted to know in advance, I can understand that but when you have it, go try it, damn!

+1. This isn't major engine work. Should take all of about 5 minutes to figure out the shift ****.

Just pull the chrome trim around the base of the shift **** straight down. Do not twist and it. All will be revealed.

Nope, shouldn't hurt anything at all and also, there's already videos on how to do this. It's on the first part of this video since it's the first step in removing the radio and what nots:

6.5 thanks man. That's a 05 maxima . You know how I got the 6.5 08? So dose all that info sti apply for the 08 max? Thanks for the useful info. Geuss what? I went to the dealership yesterday servic department was closed. I was like dang it my luck lol. Anywho I saw this beautifull 2012 sv fully loaded white Maxima with black leather. My car has 50k miles on it. The stick said 37,500 he said he would do it for 32,000. Do you think I should offer him my car and 7800 for that new max?

He knows you got 08. Have YOU gone and tried to see if it works? Why don't you go try and come and report here if it worked or not? Instead of you asking him if it would work or not? How would he know for sure? He drive a 6.5gen and not a 6gen. He is helping you already with the video. Seriously, go do some work and come report your results.

As for the new car, newer is nicer but not necessarily better. People advised you one time to take the Infiniti your grandpa was offering to you. You did not take the majority of the advice. So, do the same here. Make your own decision. For whether 6.5 tells you to buy it or not, I know you will not buy it. Want to bet?

No problem, I wouldn't go to the service department to get that done. Plus, they'll probably give you all sorts of BS on how a Lexus shift **** shouldn't fit on a Nissan. Even if they are willing, it'll cost you an arm and a leg.

This shouldn't take more than a few minutes to see if it works or not. You really don't have anything to loose. If it doesn't work then put the OEM back on. It's an easy enough thing to try out, instead of paying someone to do it. So, why not? That's just my outlook on it. Your only switching out the shift **** and so, I don't see how it would mess anything up at all.

Anyways, it's really up to you to make that decision. I like the look of 7th gens but, it's still a FWD CVT and the interior space is actually less than a 6th gen in general.

I honestly don't think that it will be a trade + 7,800 for it. So, they won't buy back the car for 28k. More like 12k or probably less and you have to pay the difference.

Right on 6.5 - with that all being said and done with I know I came across on here as a pansy but I manned up and tried it and the bottom chrome plastic peice that pops on the Lexus shift **** was to small. Wonder if I could get that same peice like that bottom that was to small a tad size bigger so it would fit over the stick shift. Do ya Think that's a possibility or am I dreaming ? I was told this by somebody so that's why i ask you..

On a quick side note- I like the amount of interior **** on my 6.5 so that's a good enough reason to keep the max and might as well wait to see how the 2013 maxi body style looks. Hopefully it looks like a beast

Your poor social skills received the response it deserved. Regardless though, i will not instruct you to do ANYTHING that will cause harm to your car. If you break anything along the way it is your own fault.

Dude, you are awesome to do this. That is SUPER HELPFUL of you. You don't even have to put a disclaimer that he is responsible if he breaks something. You have done way too much already.

Way off the topic here. But I just noticed on my 6.5 gen something I want to ask the 6.5 community on here. You know how when we switch our cars to manuel mode... You know how there's a little M on the screen for Manuel I'm assuming .. Well I just noticed this little S letter underneath that M. Thats not some type of sport mode is it????

Not sure and honestly, I've never felt the need to change my shift ****. I like the OEM one just fine. Also, if it doesn't fit, then it doesn't fit IMO. You could modify some parts in order for it to work. But, that's your call. I would just go and get a new shifter if your not satisfied with the one you got on there now.

They'll probably change the body style by then. It'll be interesting to see what they do to it. Although, it's probably going to be just as small since they're trying to compete with other companies for sport sedans.
