I was wondering if it's necessary to remove the front bumper to install a cold air intake? thanks!!!

Just take out the two Philip's head screws on the drivers side by the tire so that you can pull the fender liner loose. It will be just enough room to get the filter in and work. If you need more space then it is only two more screws to drop the bumper on just the drivers side. If you pull back the fender liner and look in at the top of the bumper where it meets the fender, you will see two screws. They can also be removed with a Phillips screw driver. I break it free with a screw driver and remove it the rest of the way with a socket on an extension with no ratchet. You also have to remove a few clips under the hood. You have to take them off anyway when you install the cold air intake.

I have had the front bumper off so many times that i can get it done in about eight minutes.

yeah, just go in through the fender, not too hard of a job. Try not to break the plastic pegs that hold the fender well in place.

It is a bit complicated if you havent taken off body panels before. Getting the push pegs and snap on screws back in place is important for fittment and they are so easy to break. The screws holding my wheel well guards arent even connected anymore bc its such a pain

How about you tell us exactly what you are interested in installing and we could answer your question with a lot more accuracy. Most intake systems do not require bumper removal, if any. But a few, like the Fujita, may make it easier. Just tell us what you want to install and I'm sure whatever it is someone can help.

It would be easier if you did remove the bumper because the screws might be rusty and you'd have a hard tim removing them. Depending on which on you get you'll need to screw it to keep it secured from the bottom. That's how mine was.

It's really not that hard, just remove the side that the CAI goes and leave the other side. You probably can access the stock one from the stone sheild but it might be tight so just do it with the bumper off. It's good practice

The bumper, no, but the fender liner yes. Just turn the wheel all the way to the left and that should give easier access to undoing the screws and installing the CAI. There's only one panel that you work with and you can remove it if you wish but I didn't have to, I just pulled it back.

I did not remove my front bumper. I just loosened the screws on the bottom of the bumper, moved the splash shield out of the way and had plenty of room to do what I needed to do.

Sorry for being off topic but, does a cold air intake help mas milage? If so what kind in the 100-200 dollar range would be best.

It doesn't really add to it, you may notice a 1 MPG gain at most. It may even go down in the weeks after the install with all the revving you'll be doing to hear it

I doubt an intake give a noticable porformance gain. It's more for sound and looks but it's all in your mind. If you think the car goes faster then you win. You'd have to add on a few other parts along with the intake to feel the difference.

I mean I have a cold air intake and I never really felt a gain, but it does have an amazing sound that makes me feel the car is faster compared to when I had the stock one on

Its snowing here so that might be a spring idea. New tires as well. Just got my Maxima to accept AMSOIL fluids, it was a bit hesitant at first but now it purs. Now its time for plugs and to get rid of that annoying timing chain rattle.
