HAS ANY 6THGEN MEMBERS INSTALLED OR CUSTOMED THE 04 ALTIMA HEADERS IN A 04 MAXIMA?

I'm in the process of improving my 04 6speed maxima race times with as many "bolt on's" I can find. I tried looking for some headers and y-pipes for my car but cattman's headers are stupid expensive and racingline y-pipe is about $300 shipped.

The altime has the same engine so i'm wondering if it would work on my maxima and how much modification would be required? Fellaz before you go on about something that has nothing to do with this thread please understand that you're not obligated to respond to this thread if you have no experience or have useful to contribute. I'm just looking for experience about the engine set up and if the subframe would obstruct the bolting up of the headers

the altima headers fit our manual 6th gen perfectly. No need to modify them. If you had an automatic 6th gen you would have to shave the headers for them to fit. I dont think the racingline y-pipe fits our manual tranny maximas. You should also consider a thermal spacer kit and a BOP plate. A performance clutch is a must too.

Have you done this mod man? I'm comparing the Y-pipe of the altima and the maxima and it's a different shape. So if it's just the y-pipe that needs the modification then i'm definitely going with it.

I already have the 5pc spacer kit,BOP,light weight crank pulley,CAI,catback, and timing advance. The clutch and the light weight flywheel will be added after I get to try out the gain with the other bolt mods.

Seeing that the clutch and the flywheel would be the most expensive mods i'll do that last.

^^^ Racingline high flow cats.

If you're going the headers route you should be planning on getting tuned anyway. Goodbye EGR and downstream oxygen sensor codes. That being said I can't confirm that Uprev works for the 04 Max. It does work for the 05-06 Altima.

Thanks for confirming. I knew it worked on most of the 6th gens but wasn't sure about 04. Trust me theres a lot of 04 and before Altimas that wish they could go the Uprev route.

Anyone with a 6thgen maxima done the altima headers mod? I'll be ordering my headers last week and I need to know what kind of modifications need to be done to fit.
