Stuck in 2nd Gear Issue/Help

I have a '04 Max SL - about 105k miles.

I was at a stop at a light, when I stepped on the gas, the car feels like it's stuck in gear. It won't accelerate, I tried using the tiptronic and it won't shift pass 2nd gear. Also when in drive or on my brakes the car is trying to move forward like someone is revving it, when in park the car just revs like someone is stepping on the gas pedal and letting go. I got out of the car and I can smell something burning.

Has anyone had this issue before?

Please Help!!

Don't keep driving the car...something is SERIOUSLY farked up here.

Agreed, you need to take it somewhere. Preferably a tranny shop, not the dealer. You don't wanna be raped by the dealer.

Do you neutral-drop a lot? Have you had the tranny fluid changed recently? at all?

CVT is not equipped on 04 max....started in 06 I think. Also, OP mentioned tiptronic. CVT don't have tiptronic, only regular auto

The tranny fluid was changed about 2 weeks ago, and no I don't neutral drop at all. Well, having it towed to a shop Which I'm a regular oil change customer. We'll see what happens.

Great news!! Tranny is in great condition. The issue was something stuck in the throttle body. Got that resolved and replacing the right engine mount. Won't need to look for a new car after all.
