Need help with possible crankshaft sensor problem.

Problem started a week and a half ago. Started my car one night and it made a weird sound while cranking. I turned it off and tried again and it started fine. The next morning it wouldn't start at all, wouldn't even try to crank. I took out the battery and tested it and it was perfectly fine. The following day the car started but if I don't hit the gas right away it will shut off. It idles weird also, very close to shutting off. I searched on here and read thru a few post and thought it was my crankshaft sensor so I had it changed at a local repair shop 2 days ago. Didn't help anything, actually made it worse. Now sometimes when I accelerate it sputters. If I shut it off and start again it will accelerate fine. The whole time the service engine soon didn't come on until this morning. It gave me a P0335 which is the cranshaft sensor that was just replaced. Could have been a bad part? I called the shop and they said to pay $100 for a diagnostic check. They said the cranshaft could be malfunctioning due to a number of reasons. Anybody had this problem? Any help is appreciated.

Had a similar problem. No code, but car would start fine, idle ok, but when I put it in gear and tried to drive it would sputter. Mine ended up being a loose air intake hose.
