04Blackmaxx farewell...

Ive had fun on this forum since what seems to be forever now after getting my 04 in the summer of 03 new. Today, perhaps against my better judgement I bought a 2010 Camaro SS after strongly considering a 2010 335xi coupe. I dont really know why I made the choice I did and neither does anyone I know. I guess the 3 just didnt get enough attention for my tastes and my heart wasnt into it.

They just so happened to have a black on black auto (apparently its .2 seconds faster to 60, so thats nice). 1,100 on the odo. I just wanted something different, the 3 was different, this is from another world.

I used to have a 5th gen and now I have a Mustang GT convertible. You are right it is another world. I love my Mustang but they are really two different cars for two different purposes. The Maxima is much more practical but I am here to tell you that front wheel drive sucks for a car with any kind of power. Enjoy your ride!

btw- I was looking at the 335i also but had always wanted the Mustang vert and knew I would have still wanted it if I hadn't got it. Maybe when I grow up some more I will get the bimmer.. maybe not.

Good luck man. I remember you from when I first joined this website back in 2007. I'm sure you will enjoy that Camaro. Be sure to drop in every once in a while.

Congratulations on the Camaro, It's really clean. Only 1100 miles on the odo? That's so low...was this a demo? It's going to cost you big time in gas especially an SS. Up here in Montreal, Canada, the gas prices keep going up week after week after week. It's so annoying! You better buy shares in an oil company so that you can get something back and while you're at it...get a points card too. I'm changing my Max soon for a new G37 Coupe or the new Subaru sports coupe...their first RWD! Or the WRX STI...However with the rising price of gas, the new Tesla model S sedan is looking really good too. This car runs entirely on electricity and the top model has a 300 mile range and can be recharged to 80% anywhere where there's an outlet in under 20 mins....so long journeys while you stop for a bathroom break and a bit to eat, stretch...you park next to a standard electrical outlet and then go! The sports model hits 60 mph faster than your Camaro SS (under 4.4 seconds!) and the body is all aluminum...no rust...hardly any moving parts other than the wheels and brakes. The secret is in the micro precision electric motor. Car has amazing warranty and actually performs better in cold climates! Very low center of gravity due to the batteries being installed along the bottow of the car so it handles really well. And the batteries retain 80% efficiency after 8 years! Plus you can get a 7 passenger version of the car. The car looks amazing and is priced about the same as a BMW 5 series or Audi 6 and looks as hot as an Audi 6 (New BMW 5 is nice too!). The extra money you spend on the car you save on maintenance, and gas. In Montreal where we pay 7.5 cents / kw/hr so if I drive about 1000 miles a month it will cost me about $20/ month extra in Hydro...that's barely noticeable. I've only seen the car in pictures and videos and there are no showrooms in Montreal yet, however there is a showroom in Toronto...maybe I'll go check it out this summer. There is a long waiting list and they require a $5k deposit....but you need to see how nice this car looks...then....The Fisker Karma is also a cool electric car however the Fisker charges it's batteries using a 2 liter turbo gas engine as a generator to fill the batteries that power the electric motor. However it gets close to 70 miles / gal. The drawback is that this car is very expensive. Google images on the Tesla S and Fisker Karma and let me know what you think. I also heard that there is a new Infiniti G 37 coming out this year too that's supposed be a real eyecatcher too! I test drove a fully equiped M35h . It's a hybrid loaded with tech options. This car is the same price as the Tesla and drives itself on clean highways....and I'm not kidding...you can actually take your hand off of the steering wheel and the car performs corrections to stay within the dotted lines on the highway plus it keeps a steady distance that you can program from the cars in front and behind! However the gas mileage you save over the non hybrid isn't worth the extra $$$ IMHO. BTW - The Tesla has lease options too.

Can you imagine...I know a guy here that drives a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT with over 500 HP! He told me that he spends $30 / day on gas! That's like $1000 /month! I asked him if he thought it was worth it and he said, "This beast is amazing...I love it!" I can't wait to see him get smoked by a Tesla and then ask the driver what kind of car it is at the next light. ( I don't condone street racing ) but you know what I mean....If you spend $60K on a car and then spend another huge pile over the 5, 6 ,7 or 8 years that you own it...even if you spend $35 K on a car and spend another $25K - $35K on gas and maintenance that works out to the same but you end up driving an amazing car during that same time for the same $$$. Plus you get to feel good about the environment...no emissions, no noise. It's an interesting choice. Some people like myself, love to hear the engine, transmission and exhaust noises....Like a Maserati or an Aston Martin....so there's a trade off! When that day comes, I will miss my Maxima though...cause with all it's little problems and quirks in the end it is still a nice car to look at and drive.....

Hey as far as gas goes im averaging 20mpg, the tank is 19 gallons and costs me $70 to fill at current premium prices around here. A fisker karma is such a rare car it would cost 4x the price of a camaro so anything you save in MPG's really dosent matter. I like the muscle, just sucks you gotta pay to feed the beast. Im not into electric/hybrids.

Its actually not bad at all just driving around...its when you get into a ramp you realize you have to really look around the rearview and around the pillars before you creep around corners. You can also adjust the seat down so far you feel like you are sitting in a pit. This is a 1SS and the pass seat does not adjust up or down so if you are 5'5ish you will have the bottom of the windshield at about eye level .

Big difference from the maxima but when I tested it (dealer had to come along as a policy for these and vettes) I couldnt believe how smooth and quiet it was, its practicaly new and the max was 132,000 miles but even so, the drive is incredibly solid and the ride is better quality than the max even from new. Its the first time in 9 years there no feeling of wheel shimmy which persisted for the whole time i owned the max and just got used to and since its something you are always holding its the first thing you notice behind the wheel. I noticed everyone noticing the car (evne though its been out for 3 years now), heard the exhaust note and knowing it can pull a 4.6 second 0-60 and next thing i was signing the max away . Im happy though I cant wait to drive it everyday its an awesome experience.
